Away 05/23 - Rsl

Man a lot of you people are spoiled. It's like you've never followed a losing team before. Didn't RSL suck in their first year with Kreis as coach?

Another crap game. We werent playing our worse and RSL wasnt playing their best. Our backline is useless. We had the same number of shots as RSL (6) but only 1 on target. We were even with RSL on possession, they lead slightly though - roughly 51%-49%, so our supposedly biggest takeaway from most of our games "hey we owned possession" wasnt even true. I liked the starting formation but not the starting lineup. 4-3-3 should be our go too. Alvarez, Poku, or Nemec should of been on though. Particularly Nemec and Alvarez as the later knows how to make crosses and the former has the physique to actually head them in. Our crosses and corners were terrible.

Our Sub situation....was shit. As usual Kreis waits way too long to sub and then makes shit substitutions. Khiry and Mullins both off at the same time? I would be fine with one of them coming off (mullins) in favor of Nemec but both at the same time? Stupid. But the worst part is he subs on Velasquez and McNamara for them.

He subs off two forwards for 2 midfielders? More of the ole "play em out of position" genuineness of Kreis.

Then he wastes our last sub in the final minutes of the game on an untested, untried, young defender...Brandt. When we are 2 down we should be making substitutions to improve our offense not making 60 minute too late defensive subs. It did jack shit too because RSL went on to have several near close goals and the only thing that stopped them was bad finishing/saunders. Brandt kicked the ball out of bounds easily 4 times and I wasnt even trying to count.

Poku isnt a Messiah but I have a hard time believing he doesnt deserve a shot at playing. Im fine with him being a Sub if he actually comes on..... Especially considering we needed an offensive minded player the most. I have a strong feeling that a lot of this comes down to personal relationships and players not getting along with Kreis personally (Mendoza comes to mind)

There is talent on this team. Its not being utilized properly (Mix) if at all (Poku) Continuing to roll week in and week out the likes of Brovsky, Jacobson and if it werent due to injuries or red cards...Grabavoy/Allen..is a disgrace. (expect them next week though!!)

Kreis is a bad coach. Plain and simple. The lineups, the morale, the substitutions, out of position players, the direction/strategy have all been on him and those are the areas we have lacked in the most. His cluelessness is so evident in these post game interviews. Absolutely pathetic. Muttering nonsense and no inspiration or confidence showing. All the Kreis defenders on these forums seem to be able to say now is "Fuck (insert name of anyone questioning Kreis) your a moron" He had a huge hand along with Reyna in putting this team together. Money wasnt an issue as we are one of the biggest spenders in the league.
He's done a crap job. He may not be a crap coach, but he's absoluletely done a crap job. No way a sane person could argue differently.

Yes, they sucked his first 1/2 season in charge and accidentally made the playoffs the next 2 years. I don't care what some people on here say, RSL looked great tonight. NYCFC was lucky to escape with only a 2 goal score line.

Facey had a terrible game, the Stertzer goal and the almost indirect FK was cuz of him. There's still issues all over, but Saunders looked good. I thought the game looked a lot more positive when Mullins and Shelton went out and Velasquez and McNamara came in. Might have been RSL packing it in or just tired legs.

Good game from Patrick Mullins. He drew 3 fouls on the attacking side, forced another 3 corners, and assisted on a quality David Villa shot. They might try playing him a little higher. His artistry is exquisite, and sometimes matches David Villa pretty move for pretty move. I don't like Kreis' attitude towards him, called him a "100% effort player" or something to that effect which is probably the only he isn't because he's a break-taker. Don't get all the people calling for Poku. Poku in for who? Jacobsen was pretty good today, Mix is obviously better, and Ballouchy is the team's leading scorer. For Shelton? Perhaps, but they bring pretty much the same thing, raw athleticism, and Shelton is better in everything else. Kreis really just needs to adapt his strategy to this team and not vice versa.

I don't have a problem with the McNamara for Mullins sub because I think Tommy Mac needs to get more minutes. He's the only true CAM we have until Lampard gets here. I would rather have seen Poku come on instead of Velasquez. Poku is another guy who needs to see the field more in my opinion. Especially when we are chasing the game (which it seems like we are always doing). And I would have taken Ballouchy off instead of Shelton.

Ballouchy is shit. No way around it. Jacobsen is equally or more shit. Neither deserves to start in MLS. if you can't see that, there's not much point in Us discussing football, because we see things entirely differently.

I like Mac too, and im happy hes finally getting his minutes but he should of been subbed with Ballouchy...a Midfielder. Not one of our strikers. Velasquez should not of come on period.

I hear you. I don't understand why he left Ballouchy on especially because it looked like he could barely run towards the end. Not sure if he was hurt, tired or a bit of both. Either way he needed to come off.

I think you shouldn't post as much when your over inebriated.
I think you should not tell me when to post. I'm fine. I'm just pissed we suck, in practically every facet.

And I think you should not try so hard to be mister reasonable cool. We suck. No one is going to see you as Mr. Analytics because you don't call shit players shit.

My guess is that Kreis might have been thinking that for the last sub but then Wingert started hurting, possibly a hamstring injury, they had to put Brandt in. We're super thin in the back, I can't image what NYC would do without Wingert. Considering it looks like Kreis has lost all faith in Watson and got rid of Mendoza.

I saw that too. I guess even injury isnt enough to sub off the crap.

Sadly your first comment is true, we are weak all over. But don't we already all know that?

Not sure why Kreis doesn't play more players. But even then, unless Kreis wanted to sabotage his career, why wouldn't he play the best 11? It makes me suspect those on the bench even more.

Ballouchy leads the team in goals...he also has a few nifty moves...that's about it...he's obviously not a starter on a playoff team but he's the leader in goals and tied for second in shots on goal. Jacobsen is the only true 100 percenter in the starting lineup, he just isn't skilled, small problem (sarcasm). Lampard will probably take his spot. I would have liked to see Poku in there for the last 15 or 20, but he wouldn't have been the difference between 2-0 and a draw if he had played all 90 minutes.

Weve seen some of the people of the bench before and they looked fine or better then what we have been starting. Alvarez and Poku have shown to be higher quality then what we usually field. Nemec I feel has potential and a place if we play it right. (formation position etc.)

Why on earth did we start making crosses and going for headers when we took Nemec off? Thats the exact purpose we needed him for.

My eyes are going to fucking explode out of my head. Nemec has potential, people bragging that ballouchy is the leading scorer. I'm calling we don't win more than a hand full of games this season if things/people don't change. I'm new to MLS not to football, we got some serious issues on all levels.

I mean, I don't know what he's doing. It almost seems he's trying to prove a point of some sort by trying to show us exactly how pitiful our players are.

I don't mind supporting a crap team, but if we are going to be crap, I'd like to be crap with players who aren't recycled crap.

If you followed MLS before our team, you know Ballouchy and Brosky in particular were known laughingstocks in the league. Yet we insist on them being out there all the time. Just put somebody out there who has the potential to develop into mediocrity. No need to keep it up with the people who have proven their max aptitude is US Opem Cup or USL loanees.
