Nycfc V Disney Motm & Postgame

This is my point. Vila is not a captain. Pirlo, by God, that man is a captain. Fifty times over.captains bark orders. Villa barks objections over his perceived wasted chances. Meanwhile, as I said, I've personally watched him shit the bed on at least 5 one on ones right in front of my season tickets.

Yet he still acts as though he's flawless.

You see Pirlo take that yellow after he gave it away? Name one goddamned time Villa did that. He doesn't. He's a luxe attacker. He's not a captain. But he is a hell of a lot more of one than Lampard, just by showing up.

Again, Pirlo is a god. He's already the captain of this team regardless of who has the armband. He changed the way the entire team plays. We're a real team with him.

Did you see the man point where he wanted people to go! You are right Godlike. But Villa is great and really loves the team and city. hes a real European player so expect the drama.
Pirlo on the other hand got laid flat tonight and got up and didn't even look at the referee.
Being a striker/forward does not always allow a player to "run" a team the way midfield does.

Giving this match a full write up because it deserves it. Hope everyone who reads it appreciates my contributions. I'll begin first with the pre-match.
- Kaka is a first class player. When he came out before practice he signed and took photos with all the kids by my section. I shook his hand and wished him a good game today because he deserves it.
- Spoke with Adrian Heath before the match. I told him, "You can't be here you're suspended." He checked out the field conditions and then left. He just gives off the impression of being a jackass.
- Keeping on the Orlando track, Cyle Larin is good and he can be great. Our defense gave him two or maybe all three of his goals, but he did finish and he finished well. It's going to be good to see him through the years in MLS.
- Final thoughts on Orlando, their fans are maybe the worst I've seen in league on road games. Yes they had numbers but I clearly saw one just throw a beer on fans on the lower tier after we scored. They were doing the "DX" junk cross motion all the time and audibly crushing. I get the puto chant, but on one occasion they did "You're an asshole," which caused me to actually to turn around and say, "Wow, not cool."

- Spoke with Katie Witham from FOX. I asked her for her predictions on the score. She told me doesn't have that information but said we looked forward to some good soccer, maybe a Pirlo goal. Not my favorite sideliner reporter.
- Spoke with Alan Kelly (head ref) before the match. His usually never happens but we went over to talk to friends in the stands. Asked him how many spot kicks today, he replied "none." He didn't lie.

Now onto the good, the bad, and the NYCFC...
- David Villa: We pay him the big bucks and he produces. That first goal, marvelous. That first touch should be on display at the Met. The shot just squeezed in, unbelievable. I still think there are times when we don't have better scoring chances because he demands the ball, but that's what you get with a world class scorer on the team. That being said, I wouldn't want any other team to have him.
- Poku: POKU!!! Pretty sure this was his first 90' match and he was consistent throughout. Didn't falter in the 70' and bulldozed through the field. I wore my long sleeved black Poku jersey today. It was hot but it was worth it. After the match, I asked to swap jerseys with him, he told me next time. I believe him. I also told him he needs to score more. His 4th assist was not allowed because his pass to Villa was offside. He should have shot that ball in my opinion. Same play with Mix a few minutes later and he got his assist.
- Pirlo: I was a little disappointed with the "WE WANT PIRLO" chants since the beginning of the match. We're more than just one player. But when he came on, wow. I'll be the first to say he can't play defense. But he opened up the field so much. He did try to be a little too cool with the ball which nearly led to Orlando's 4th (I think that was the crossbar one). Needs to be paired with Jacobson just so we don't let up more goals. Also, like Iraola got a yellow card in his MLS debut.
- Mena: There are two sides to our defense and CBs. The first is counterattack, through ball, etc. defense. We are terrible when it comes to this. I think that 70% of our allowed goals and been through this. However, I found that Mena won possession on all 1 v 1 possession orientated offense. When there was an Orlando player near the corner flag trying to get by Mena it never worked. He always won the ball. It was great to see. Definitely will get better on other parts of the game when he has more training with the club.
- Calle: He scored? Damn, he scored.
- Mix: 2 away from the hat trick. A pleasure to see on the field. He's an animal, he's everywhere. If only he could play like this for the USMNT.
- Saunders: I think he could have done better saving the first Orlando goal, but he did come up with one huge save. Getting better on goal kicks.
- Angelino: A bit too short for headers on defense but damn this dude has skill. I told him after the match, please stay one more year. I really hope he does.
- Forgot about McNamara: TMAC! That's all that needs to be said.

Kreis thoughts...
- I think the 4-2-3-1 worked well for us. If fully healthy, I can see Pirlo starting versus Montreal with Ballouchy if need be coming off the bench. Mix too will be starting though Calle had a nice performance today.
- This team is getting more fun to watch. 16 total goals scored in the past two home matches, that's some MLS record.
- We're going on a winning streak. We're winning the next four games (MTL, COL, RBNJ, DC).
We've finally unleashed Mix. The difference was obvious, but bears repeating. He's a goddamn good player. He can be that player for us now.

I vehemently disagree with your assessment that Prilo can't play defense. I saw him stop more attacks with pure positioning than AJ has stopped all year. He just stops them before they start. Make no mistake. He made us more solid on defense, as well. I loved that man before. But even having been to EPL and UCL matches before, I have never seen a player so damn smart. He's incredible. The man very well may have all those years left in him. Guaran-damn-tee you he'll play for the Azurri in Euros. He's one of a kind. I can't even describe it.

Enjoyable game to watch, just a point on villa his positioning for the offside goal was pathetic considering his class ,could quite easily have ended up a 4_4draw need to learn how to run the clock down better.

Gotta disagree that Villa isn't a captain, he does whine, but I've also seen him give direction to players. He's a change changer and he busts his ass out there.

But... I also have no issues with making Pirlo captain. ;)

Imagine if Cyle Larin's red card was upheld and he sat out this game. Would we won 5-0? Anyway, I recorded this game and will definitely save it. I was on national tv!

This is just not true. Villa was garbage the first half. There is no way he should be MOTM over Pirlo. Pirlo changed the team. Villa has never done anything other than whine and occasionally poke one through. He's been less than amazing. I have personally watched him miss at least 5 one on ones. Right in front of my season ticket location. It's been pretty bad, honestly. Up until now, we had no place for a luxe attacker.

I think that's changed with the addition of Pirlo. If we could dish Lampard and get a real 3rd dp, we'd be scary as hell.

I think you are being a little too hard on Villa. And admittedly, I am probably too soft on him. That being said, I agree that he had some questionable plays in the first half, like the shot from half field - think he was trying to catch the goalie out, but his shot was so off target- and it seemed to take him 20 minutes or so to get involved in the game. He wasn't "garbage" though. He was throwing his body around, working hard, and managed to get us into half-time up a goal, when we really didn't deserve to be.

And I agree that Pirlo was a god, and a game changer for us. I just don't agree with give MOTM to someone who played 1/3 of the match. A very important 1/3, yes, but still. Hence why I specifically said "for the game as a whole"

Well lads and lasses, that was an absolutely fantastic game to watch, thought you were home and hosed at 4-2, only to nearly lose two points, then that finish.... wow!

I am glad I missed the first half, judging by reports on it. That second half was damn exciting, great to see Pirlo come on, despite giving the ball away once that led to a dangerous attack from Orlando he was flawless.

Great for me as a Manchester City fan to see Angelino have a really good game, player is full of skills going forward, maybe even better in a 3-5-2 than 4 at the back. You definitely need a new right-back in my opinion, the few times I have seen you play, it always seems to be your right side that is weak.

Will be good to see Lampard and Pirlo play regularly together, seems you are beginning to get the foundations in place of a very good side, Villa today looked really tenacious and 'up for it'. Poku looks raw and full of energy, he'll score loads being fed by Pirlo.

Can I criticise your keeper? I think he looks poor, sorry but I do. Maybe I have been spoilt by the quality of 'keepers in the Premier League?

Thanks for the entertainment peoples, keep it up !

I fully expect FF to show up and fuck up chemistry as he tries to claim glory for his fat head. I really wish that unneeded shitbird would disappear. We have a squad now. We don't need him. And we damn sure don't need his glory seeking ways of play.
We don't need him to score, and he's not going to defend Cyle Larin.

Keeper is shitty at everything except shot stopping. It's pretty bad, and no secret. I think we're all over Lampard and most would prefer he go back to MC.

Saunders is at best a backup GK. That is why we had traded for Meara from the Redbulls but he got hurt again and is out. Saunders is not a starting GK in this league. He was out of the league for over a year with injuries and personal issues, the galaxy let him go with no problem.

You'll get over it when you start to see him in your shirt, scoring and setting up goals.
Been hearing that for a year now. Can't wait for one of you guys to be proven right. Meanwhile, we're in dire straits where every match is do or die.

I hope he enjoyed being carried off the field. He hasn't done anything to help carry the team for which he allegedly cared so much.

So excuse me if I don't give a damn about his sorry ass.

Midas, I'm not fussed whether you like him or not, it's not going to affect my life in any way.

All I will say, is that when you do see him play regularly, you will like his game. Or, by the sounds of it, you will be so consumed by unnatural hatred of him, that you will wave away anything good he does as luck.

There have been many MCFC players over the years I have not been too keen on, but to spout this much bile and nastiness before he has even really got going, is not healthy pal.

Some people will never be happy, always looking to complain about something. The second Our players don't score or Pirlo has a off game he will be bashed as well. Villa was MOTM, Guy is one of the best of his generation for a reason today was no different top class. Reading some peoples post you would believe we been around 20 years not half a year lol anyways happy and thrilled with today!
