Nycfc V Disney Motm & Postgame

Damn that was fun. I just smiled the last 35 minutes of the game. Scoring those goals, making those passes, making those runs. Defense was spotty, and the extra time Kaka goal kick was scary (and temporarily halted my smile), but then Mix made it all good again.
Then I came home, ate my birthday dinner, and watched the last 40 minutes again. And smiled the whole time because I knew it ended happy.

Damn that was fun.

Saunders is at best a backup GK. That is why we had traded for Meara from the Redbulls but he got hurt again and is out. Saunders is not a starting GK in this league. He was out of the league for over a year with injuries and personal issues, the galaxy let him go with no problem.
Thank you for that, I did not realise his background. Hopefully you'll get a decent 'keeper, and soon!

Midas, I'm not fussed whether you like him or not, it's not going to affect my life in any way.

All I will say, is that when you do see him play regularly, you will like his game. Or, by the sounds of it, you will be so consumed by unnatural hatred of him, that you will wave away anything good he does as luck.

There have been many MCFC players over the years I have not been too keen on, but to spout this much bile and nastiness before he has even really got going, is not healthy pal.
True, I've never like him even before now. I think he's s punk.

But to act as though my like or any other NYC supporters bile is unjustified at this point is just ignoring the obvious. I will happily take whatever contribution he makes, assuming there ever is one. But I will never like him, even if I'm happy to have the added quality.

Rewatching the whole thing now. Just got to 53'. TMac is just not a bad player. He busts his ass, and he's strong on the ball, even if he doesn't have the best skills in the world.

It's a huge indictment of Kreis that he rates Grabavoy over him.

What a game!

I gave Pirlo a perfect 10 in Voopl. I gave Villa a 9. I gave Poku an 8. My index was .79 and I don't care AT ALL. These three men were spectacular! Mix trailing just slightly behind for no other reason than time on the pitch.

Mena was good. Some mistakes in there due to unfamiliarity but I saw plays exactly like the ones in the highlight video that we saw right after he signed for us. He is going to be important on the back line.

It has been said already but Pirlo is above the game. Nothing is a thought for him. Just a vision and an action. That drop into the box for Mix was jaw dropping! The game is reduced to mathematics for him. The through balls kept runners in stride. The long balls dropped on pillows. The ball skills were ballet. Unbelievable to watch...

I have t go back and rewatch the first half I skipped to get to the fun part, but my sense was that TMac was all over the place, in a good way.

Was Larin's hat trick Mena's fualt?

I think that Larin's second was the easiest to have defended. If Facey just stepped into the line of the ball or marked Larin better he wouldn't have scored, maybe.

But there were a lot of missed chances. This game could have been 8-5.

Great post. He's honestly the most spectacular player I've ever seen in person. The way He barely moves, and then He's out the challenge. It's incredible. Tonight, His contributions were the difference. Without Him, I don't think we win that match. We'd have struggled for a draw.

First one arguable should have been saved. Did Saunders think he could shoot right through the defender? I presume he's not that dense, so why leave Larin that near post?

Stray thought since so much of what I'd say has been covered . Mix learning from pirlo can be great long term for both us and the national team . Well if klinsman will start giving him playing time . Think he showed in his time on the field this afternoon he's too good to be a barely used fringe player for country .

Keeper is shitty at everything except shot stopping. It's pretty bad, and no secret. I think we're all over Lampard and most would prefer he go back to MC.
I don't know about you, but I place a lot of importance on my keepers ability to stop shots...

As I say this, I just saw the handshake of Pirlo and Kaka. It was quite nice.

I'll always remember them in Istanbul. (5x)

Ah. NOW I understand your hatRED.

Pretty juvenile if you let your support of a club outside your country, taint your support of a player that turns out in the colours of YOUR team in YOUR country.

I'll leave it there.

Yeah. But it's also nice to have one who doesn't position himself poorly and can distribute at a competent level.

He's earned the starting job this year. He's not good. Again, these aren't mutually exclusive thoughts.

Good. That post was dedicated to you.

I think any harsh criticism of Villa is just attempts by small-minded people to pretend they're soccer geniuses.

Villa busted his ass today. His positive contributions outweighed any "poor positioning" or whatever by 100 times.

The team was not set up to play offensively in the first half. It was almost as if Kreis wanted to completely crowd Kaka out for the first half, with TMac and Ballouchy even pinching in. It was like we had 5 CMs. Service was never going to be coming... Yet Villa still found a way to grab the game by the scuff of the next.

Villa was nearly unplayable in the second half. Collin was trying to mark him and he looked like a deer trying to ice skate.

Villa's been superb since taking the captain's armband--he's been a leader through and through. He works really had, has adjusted his play to become more physical, and (like or lump it) knows how to work the refs (and can get the benefit of the doubt his way).
