2018 MLS Season Thread

Was looking for somewhere to drop the Barco injury news and didn't really find any appropriate threads for that at the moment.

Out 4-6 weeks. We are at Atlanta on 4/15, which is 6.5 weeks out.
If the 4-6 includes his stint back to match fitness then it’s gonna be a tossup. If that’s the timeframe simply to heal/do physical therapy before full training, then he probably won’t be a factor outside of a late game sub. Just never know how a team gauges injury news/recovery.

i do wonder if that turf is going to hurt them more in the long run. this injury was probably not the reason but its always something i thought about with other injuries they had.

And I'm sure it wouldn't help his return to the field as it is probably more likely to exacerbate the issue.

i dont follow the revolution, but they would be the one to see how many injuries etc they had playing on that turf. especially since apparently they had one if not the worst turf in US, even the for football

Just an FYI for everyone, MLS will be streaming all matches for free tomorrow on the league site until the new ESPN service starts. Normal blackout rules apply.

This is a little late but still interesting:
MLS 2018 predictions: Atlanta for title ... and Ronaldo teams up with Beckham?

It's the Guardian MLS preview, and it is at least as good as any domestic preview. The comments are a hoot too. eye-opening how many people over there know so much about soccer over here (and yes I realize the Guardian has a worldwide audience but the comments do seem to be mostly UK based).
Some interesting perspectives, and in some ways a slightly askew version of mlssoccer.com comments, with moaning about the NYC baseball stadium and pitch, arguments on whether Atlanta is overrated, does LA need a second team, and pro/rel (surprisingly most say the US doesn't need it). I just found it fascinating.

pro/rel (surprisingly most say the US doesn't need it).
Because we don’t actually need it. It’s just an easy proxy. If we had it, we’d be forced to actually address the real failings because we wouldn’t have some platitudinous bullshit rationale. But you could, you know, just do that anyway in the absence of pro/rel.
