Dallas - Postmatch

And yet I don't think Yankee Stadium was mentioned at all in the player's survey. Clearly they don't care.
It's just ridiculous how much losing teams parade that around as an excuse.

Plus, all the whining about how they didn't finish their chances without mentioning that we forced their keeper into a couple of wild saves and also hit the crossbar once.

What I can’t figure out is what their issue is with the size of the pitch? A small pitch requires more technical ability and greater acceleration by the players (as opposed to just top end speed), compared to a larger pitch where it’s much more of a pure physical style of play with having to cover ground and beating players to long outlet passes. If other teams don’t like the small field, that’s indicative of their own players’ shortcomings, most likely that of a less technically advanced player and more of a physical bruiser.

I agree.

It's a regulation fucking pitch. It's not like this is MLS 1999 and we are playing on something that's 60 yards wide.

It’s not regulation until Peter Vermes says it’s regulation. *eyeroll*

Enough already, I have had it with these muthaf*kin players/fans/coaches whining about the muthaf*kin field.

IMHO, the only reason why this is an issue is because of the horrible TV angle at Yankee Stadium. Most away bloggers only experience Yankee Stadium through that camera angle. In person there is no issue.

Agree. The angle is too low and too far back and leads to a perception that the field is much narrower than it really is.

Ah, so you're a camera-angle conspiracy theorist. Got it! :)

But actually, I've always liked our low camera angle as it's almost exactly the same as the view from my seats. But on the other hand I might be the only one who feels that way. And to be honest it never really occurred to me that that might contribute to the foreshortening of the view of the field, making it seem narrower than it might (or might not) be. That's a good point.
