Heh. Difference between that and growing up supporting always almost good enough and coming up just short too often.
It’s a valuable point to make, as I think it does inform people’s perspectives.
Kevin Mirallas on a TAM deal this summer. Everton loaned him out for the last 6 months of his contract to Olympiakos. They don't want him anymore. He's available on a free this summer and his best offer is Standard Liege. He's 30 years old and he won't make the Belgian National Team for the World Cup.
The average wage at Standard Liege is about $400k. Put him to the left of Villa where he can cut back on that right foot of his. Pay him $1 million on a 2.5 year contract.

I'm not exactly sure of the specific incidents but I think he's shrouded in that catch-all, "locker room cancer" label. The talent is there though.
What makes you say that? He is with them now for their 28 man roster and you can bring what, 23 to the WC?
Eliminate a goalie, Jordan Lukaku, Dedryk Boyata, Limbombe, and Dendecker and you are down to 23 man roster. Throw in Ciman, Thorgan Hazard, and Divock Origi who he is most likely better/rated higher then.
Their coach doesn't care where you play if you think the Greece factor might effect it. Ciman has been getting call up after call up from MLS and multiple players are in China.
He might not play, but I'd be surprised if he didn't at least make it to Russia.
Not sure why I let that take away from the bulk of your post because I generally agree with the rest of what you are saying, though I'd rather we go after a Yank in Fabian Johnson who is a better Matarrita
He definitely is. Evertonians turned on him once he stole a PK from Baines a couple of years ago and Naismith tried to knock him out in the locker room
Word is Bobby Mo is giving him one last chance but the expectation is he will be left behind this summer.
Is Fab available on a free this summer? I'd prefer Fab too but he has many of the same locker room issues as Kev if you believe he USMNT rumors.

Mirallas is that player who you think should be able to create a magic moment or two every time he's on the pitch and then winds up making stupid decisions that bring promising attacking plays to a halt. Granted, he's probably an upgrade on most MLS players, but I'm not sure I'd want him on our team.
He’d be a very interesting TAM pickup and bolster the midfield rotation, which is more of a necessity, after being exposed by NE, than anybody previously realized.
I’d like to give Ofori a moment to settle in. And see if we need to focus on LB after Mata returns.

I think it's great -- look at all the upgrades we've made, and there's still a ton of salary cap space to make even more improvements in the summer and after the World Cup. If there are areas that need shoring up, we've got the room to make substantial moves.
Alternatively, we could have even better players from jump street.
So, no. I’ll not participate in your celebration of presumed NYC fc genius.
