UEFA have announced that from 2018 onwards the top four countries (i.e. Spain/Germany/England/Italy) will all get four guaranteed places in the group stage. Also, country and possibly club coefficients will now be slightly increased based on previous trophy wins.

Not sure this is a positive development but it's supposedly the latest appeasement to put back talk of the Super League for another 3 years. At least they didn't go ahead with the initial plan, which would have had certain clubs be granted automatic entry if they failed to qualify through their domestic leagues, on the principle that they were somehow "too important" to not be playing in the competition...
