And we have until Monday to "opt out" - which means I will have to opt out since I can't make October 31 in any event.
They were probably so fixated on whether the Yankees would advance and push NYCFC out of YS for the playoffs, that they lost sight of the act that a home Knockout game is not settled."If you don’t want to purchase your seats for Playoffs, you must let us know by completing the Playoff Opt Out Form by 11:59PM EST on Monday, October 15. If we don’t hear from you, we will charge the amount due for the first playoff game to the credit card that was used for your 2019 City Membership on Tuesday, October 16."
Wait, wait, wait. We aren't confirmed to be hosting a home knockout round match but they're charging us before we even play on the 21st. This is really odd, the 21st is a great indicator because if we get a point in DC we are guaranteed to host a home playoff match.
In Typical City fashion, they'll charge us, we'll lose both our games, Columbus will win both of theirs and we'll end up in 5th, demanding refunds!
Knockout - same price as regular season
Conf Semi - 22.5% premium
Conf Final - 50% Premium
That's Delta, and Founders. Not necessarily universal.
Which is weird because they state:"If you don’t want to purchase your seats for Playoffs, you must let us know by completing the Playoff Opt Out Form by 11:59PM EST on Monday, October 15. So that should also have been the case for if we "qualify" to host the knockout round gamePayments will be processed on a "Pay As We Play" basis. Your credit card will be charged the day after we advance to the next round.
You can probably just call them and they’ll adjust it for you.Is there a way to reduce the number of tix for the playoffs? I have three, and at most I’d want 2 if I don’t drop them all. Can’t find (on my phone) a place to designate the number.
The decisions by the front office are truly idiotic.
I think these are separate statements. If you and the other pitchside members pay those premiums, then the front office may not be truly idiotic as they haven't crossed the price elasticity of demand threshold (Am I using this term right? It's been a while since economics class in college)We are being completely ripped off.

I'm not saying it isn't a ridiculous price. But if everyone that sits there is willing to pay it, I'm not sure I would say the FO is idiotic. Sounds like they found the premium that is willing to be paid.Ask the former US Soccer Federation president.
I mean, I'll pay it because I have an addiction. But for an MLS playoff game at a baseball stadium even in New York, that's an outrageous price. MLS Cup would then be in the $800 a seat or something. This isn't the NBA or NFL.
What bothers me is how much Pitchside playoff tickets went up year over year. The FO made a reasonable decision that they should keep the cost for the season the same. That was the correct decision for many reasons (including the economics involving both maintaining and attracting). But, for some reason, they decided to mark up playoff tickets 30% from year to year? On what basis? Purely on the economics, that may (?) work in the immediate term if there are enough suckers like me (which, alone, is questionable), but I don't think it's a smart decision going any further beyond that.I'm not saying it isn't a ridiculous price. I would be curious to see what the premiums are around the league for home playoff games.
