300 Level Open For The Derby

The team just announced that the 300 level seats will be open in Yankee Stadium for our game against the Red Bulls on June 28.

I would expect so. The game is still 7 1/2 weeks away.

I will confess I'm surprised at how much interest this game is generating.. I had expected more people would turn out to see Clint Dempsey et al. than the Red bulls. Obviously I was wrong about that. I underestimated the appeal of the geographic rivalry.

Due to the vicinity NJRB will be able to travel far more casual fans than Seattle.
Seattle certainly did bring a lot of local fans out of the woodwork. You could tell a lot of folks had been itching to wear their Seattle jerseys.

Seattle fans deserve all good credit. Their visitors section was packed, and they were singing and chanting the whole game.

I'm not sure if they flew 3,000 miles to be here or have moved to NY and yet still know all the chants and cheers cold. Either is impressive.

The Seattle contingent was evident, but I was expecting a greater representation of general soccer fans. Dempsey is a lot of people's favorite player from USMNT, and the combo of him and Martins is arguably the best you can see in the US right now apart from occasional international friendlies. I thought people would turn out for that. Personally I marked the Seattle game as can't miss when the schedule was announced for that reason. While I will likely go to the RB game, I hardly consider it can't miss.

So bummed that I can't make this game. Seems like it's going to be a fun one.
