Andrea Pirlo announces retirement from football

Sentiment is for uncapped leagues. Fuck off and good riddance. On balance he cost $15 million and wasted a DP slot the year we have our best shot. He hurt more than helped.
When i told you that i'v tried for a little light in Dark Clouds your clouds are Black as Tar ! I can't comprehend for all i'v been told about my lack of serious subject matter how you lack the ability for The Light Of Day not to shine 1 % on this man ! We're talking Andrea Pirlo you just never got it from the start ! Look the OJ Simpson Jury got it wrong all those years ago . Your just apart of a Jury that rely's on expectations that can never be filled to your satisfaction .

You and Everyone else who feel the same way have a once in a life time chance to go to that bar in Queens (check events thread ) and say F off in person . Go ahead Xmas is around the corner you and others can all take your acid tongs there I Triple Dog Dare You !! But if those tongs get stuck to a poll that all of NYPD and NYFD and the good folks at NY Presbyterian can't remove and your stuck for life then OH WELL !! That will be mine and Andrea's laugh .
I'm not mad at you . I don't hate you . I just remain sad and confused for you . But in name of roxfontaine and all his Greatness learn some Respect man ! Peace Out !

Sorry to be sour grapes, but I honestly don't remember many moments of brilliance. Maxi's assist last game after his costly and Pirlo-esque mistake, was better than any I remember Pirlo making in a NYCFC jersey. I remember the endless head scratchers, the wasted corner kicks and free kicks, the slowing down of the transition for no good reason, and the interesting-looking but ultimately overhit long balls to the flanks. Hundreds of them. I won't miss a minute of it, and honestly I don't remember ever seeing Andrea Pirlo in a NYCFC jersey. The bearded guy who washed ashore here was a different guy.
His first game as a sub was Magic! We were losing and he came on and started dropping balls behind the defense. It was what we always hoped for and never happened again.

I also remember that ball he dropped from like 40 yards out right between the CBs to Villa who finished (against DCU I think??).

He was pretty good the first year, had his moments the second (11 assists) and was miserable the third. His corners and free kicks were awful, to the point early this year where NY went something like 80+ corners without scoring. So yeah, it has been frustrating as hell this year and we all knew he was done. But it is shortsighted to call it an absolute failure. Should have cut the ties at the end of last year.

They're gonna sell it as a Pirlo send off. He will get in the last 10 minutes.

Here's where it gets tricky. All teams play at 4 PM that day. So someone will be feeding Vieira the results of the other scores, if not myself. If we need a result to hold onto the 2nd seed, Pirlo doesn't come into the game (unless maybe for Villa in the 90+2').

With rare exceptions, players have no loyalty. Why should I?

I like Pirlo, but I would say his time with NYCFC has been closer to an absolute failure (that wasn't my word either) than a stunning success. 11 Assists on a team at the top of the league in scoring isn't that impressive, especially with Villa able to finish at the rate he does, but that aside, the utter lack of free-kick goals/assists will forever tarnish his stay - those were his bread & butter plays for stats, and we wasted so many that we would have been better off letting Villa or Jack take them.

Loved him or hated him he was not useless for the club. He is still to this day putting people in seats at Yankee stadium. And he’s one of our most sold jerseys. His production on the field may not have been what we were expecting but I don’t think he ever gave us anything but his best. I for one await his send off and will be cheering and thanking him for the experience of having witnessed a legend play the game in our colors.

His best game was his first game, and it all went downhill from there.

CFG should really just have a Legends Tour during the off-season where they invite players they’d love to have wear the jersey play in a friendly, and they get a ton of merchandise one-off sales for one-time guest players. Doing that would have kept us from wasting a DP spot on Pirlo. Totti could be next. Who else is out of contract and near retirement or already retired and could play a one-off friendly? Rooney might as well be. Their jerseys could be collectors items like the USMNT denim kit.

Wait. what? we're getting Totti

I will never expect you or others to feel about Andrea as i do simply because your not women in love. I will never expect friendship where there's no chance . Look at your colleague in the Jury LionNYC LionNYC reply on this topic . I about chocked because even he showed the 1% of what i'm talking about !!

Ask yourself this What Would Mr's Patricof, Reyna, Pellegrino ,and Cullen do if they were all standing together with Andera and David ,and you and all the haters said to Andrea F off Good Riddance and other shit to Andrea ? Would you be proud ? Would that make a difference ? Do you think you get the invite to some swank dinner at the best place in NY along with them ? Would they shower you with praise and Thank You for your support ? I think the boot that is ITALY would be kicking your Ass Out along with an escort from security . Then your ass be talked about afterward . Look Donald Trump may not be my President but i give the man my 1% . If i were to meet him I'd shake his hand because he's our President and the office should have it's proper respect.

If all you haters can down a beer . drive a car . look both way's before you cross , tie your shoes , shovel snow and F your girl then i think those who claim to love this Sport so Damn much can give Andrea your 1% ! Thank You !

Cream rises to the top and it is no exception with athletes.
The guy retires from OUR team. There is always something special about a player who wants to play in NYC.
The guy signed a contract that was offered to him, never complained about his role and clearly loves NY.
He had a shitload of wealth before he came here, both family and from his career so I don't think it was for the money.

I'm gonna cross pollen 2 threads with a shout out to you and Kangaroo Jack Kangaroo Jack for Member Appreciation !!

“Hurt more than he helped”
“All downhill from there”

To quote a friend of mine, my God y’all dumb af.

Save for one game, every game he featured in he played well. Not his fault the style of play shifted from possession to counter across almost the entire league. Even then his precision passing is second to none, but please tell me how having fucking Mikey Fucking Lopez in the lineup is an upgrade over Pirlo so we can all have a good laugh. Should he not be starting? Probably. We have a good thing with Maxi Ring and Herrera. Could we use that DP money elsewhere? I mean who really was available to us? I didn’t see anyone else sign a player for DP money that came and turned the team on it’s heels. Bastian would not be much help here as his speed is just as bad in comparison to the rest of the leagues as pirlos. But you can’t tell me that the moment one of our three mids went down his name shouldn’t be the first one we called. He delivered, team couldn’t capitalize. Thank God for Villa or we would be a bottom feeder.

“Stats”

Well there you have it folks. ‘Merica.
You take your stats. I’ll take a guy who can help win, even if he isn’t on the stat sheet. Because you know, when RJ sent that cross in to sweat who then put the ball in the Lewis for the game winner, RJ did not get an assist on his stat sheet. Yet that cross won us the game. Pirlo can create the chances. He can’t finish them for the shit surrounding cast too. Unless you want him to force the ball to Villa literally every possession, because that worked so well the inaugural season.
