Expansion Rumors Megathread

Seriously, what do they see in Nashville? It’s not a particularly a big market.

Fills in a place on the map, very wealthy ownership group, commitment to a Soccer Specific Stadium, young, wealthy and educated population, destination city, multiple sponsor opportunities. No brainer for me.
And to add onto this, its not a small market either. Nashville is the 29th largest TV market in the US, ahead of current MLS markets such as Kansas City (31), Columbus (32), Salt Lake City (33)

Granted, other TV markets currently not covered by MLS: Detroit (11), Phoenix (12), Tampa/St Pete (13), Miami (TBD - 16), Cleveland/Akron (17), Sacramento (20), St Louis (21), Pittsburgh (23), Charlotte (24), Indianapolis (25), Baltimore (26), Raleigh-Durham (27), San Diego (28).

But Nashville has all of the great things noted above and has a ton of young people based on the industries there and having Vanderbilt University which has 12k+ undergrads.

Also has Titans and Predators. Unless there is a significant rise in population, it seems like short term planning.

We should probably go ahead and just leave the Kansas City market too, huh? They've got Chiefs and Royals, smaller television market than Nashville. Lawrence, KS is just outside the city so they have to compete with Kansas football and basketball too.

KC metro area is bigger than Nashville's

And if they think they are going to have success like Predators immediately, they are in for a rude awakening.

You are correct, even though Nashville is listed as a larger TV market than Kansas City, the metro KC area is larger by 270,000 people.

The metro KC area has grown by 120k since 2010 while the Nashville metro area has grown by 275k since then.Bu

But unlike KC, Nashville has actual tourism.

And also, it's just a damn fine place to live or visit. Stands up to most any place based on my 3 years there.

aww well.....i wanted sacramento since they had the fan base and stadium plan all done i think. basically ready to go.
