Especially with both Callens and Matarrita unavailable
Callens, yes. But it’s not as if Mata has any sort of history of competent defending, and he’s been directly responsible for some of the most glaring goals allowed by ball watching.

Not sure if this is the right place, but NYCFC awarded me with a signed Sean Johnson photo to be picked up at tomorrows game. If any of the fans have a young kid who would appreciate it, private message me and it's theirs.

It wasn’t necessarily a nod to Mata’s defending prowess than it was a reference to the replacements there.

This is pretty much what I was thinking. Chanot played LCB against DC though. Toss up between Mitri and Isi for that last attacking spot. Greater than zero chance of Maxi at the 9 too. Could also go ultra attacking against a narrow formation and go with Isi at LWB.
Yeah, should have switched Chanot and Ibby.

I see what you did there, but I was referring to both of them. Sweat is very not good as a LB or LWB. Defensively, he’s much better as a LCB.
Sweat started for over a full season at LB and played well enough to force a change of position for Mata to a LW. So I’m having a hard time seeing why people are clamoring for a guy that had to play offense rather than his “natural” position of LB.

There's that word again.
