NYCFC Confirm Departure of PV. Nice Confirm Arrival of PV as Manager.

This is hilarious and amazing... I still think he leaves relatively soon but wouldn’t be mad if I was wrong

This sounds like the speak of someone whose current employer may have enticed him to stay following negotiations with one or more prospective employers.
This is the only explanation that fits all the facts and reporting. That or he just lied outright about the negotiations and got several reporters to believe him.

hmmm. possible...but i dont think his salary is an issue, and he got players he wanted this season. i mean i guess a raise but i mean nothing has happened yet in terms of silverware.

If they enticed him to stay it was not with $$ but with assurances about being the successor to Pep.

i feel like that was rumored already when he started .....unless now he has some timeline of this actually happening ..2/3 years for example.

Actually I just realized that if JayH JayH's theory is true, he still lied about the negotiations and got several reporters to believe him.

The entire world yesterday saw the number two at CFG say that he supports Vieira and will continue to do so and hopes he stays.
Yep, PV is one big lying MF right now. He may have been enticed to stay by CFG, but his denials are garbage.

Yes, this would be a big one, plus what a potential new contract would look like. They also could have made various promises about autonomy, open checkbooks for recruitment of talent, etc.

If this turns out not to be the case, he definitely mishandled the denials by crossing the line from vague to definitive. Could be bad coaching from his agent, his own poor form in handling an awkward situation, or PV simply not caring about the presentation.

Whatever it is, this is a wild ride.

All the Vieira quotes...

It makes me smile, because of course there’s no contract being signed or anything like that,” Vieira said after NYCFC training Tuesday afternoon. “This is the wrong information. I’m here, like always. I’m really happy. I really enjoy my work, I really enjoy being part of this football club. I’m just focusing and concentrating about our next game.”

“I think we are in a really good period,” NYCFC’s third-year boss said. “We’re doing really well. I don’t want players, myself, my staff or anybody in this football club to be distracted by what’s going on. My head, my focus and my energy are here.”

“That situation is the same for me,” Vieira said. “Things that I can control are being here, having my head, my energy to this football club and then everything going out is out of my hands. I can’t control what’s going on in France, what’s going on England or what’s going on anywhere else. I have a fantastic relationship with the people of this football club. We’ve always been clear with each other. For me this is the most important.

“The other things, I let people do what they need to do or say what they need to say.”

“The players are going to go to social media and they’re going to do things, but when they come into training they will see my commitment, my energy and my desire to prepare the game and this is the only things I can do,” Vieira said. “There’s no point for me to talk to them because there is nothing to say.”

So something is going on!

Seems like an appropriate place to mention Tommy Tuberville's pine box.

reference for those of you who don't know SEC football:

My guy Brian Kelly told his Cincinnati team that he wasn't going anywhere and that there were no negotiations and he wasn't considering the Notre Dame job. 12 hours later he was announced as head coach of ND.

In short, I think I'd trust a buy here pay here car salesman over a head coach of any sport. With all due respect, of course, to buy here pay here car salesmen.
