Remember how Founding Members are promised free bricks? Well DC United is selling bricks outside Audi Field.

We weren't promised free shit. Just the opportunity to make a brick. It wouldn't surprise me if they charged us.

The opportunity to have your name etched in stone and on display at our future soccer-specific stadium.

No bricks.
Etched in stone.

My prediction. It will be free. The "opportunity" cost is you have to remain STH until it happens. We have already heard that people have been told the opportunity is gone if you drop your tickets. Founders also might have the opportunity to pay for a replica for personal display but having your name there will be no cost.

Separately. I expect there will be bricks. or paving stones, or whatever, that anybody can buy for $$$. Limiting the ability to buy bricks or etchings to founding members is pointless.

To be clear. This is all prediction, not knowledge.

Probably gonna be soapstone pavers at the main entrance that’ll wear away after a few seasons so we have to pay a special founder’s price to replace them.

Yeah, but you get that founding member discount so it'll be cheaper to replace.

My idea would be to have those who remained founding members since the stadium's opening to be etched in stone on a special wall/plaque within the stadium.

Bricks outside the stadium could be sold for whatever, but there should be something special for those who have stuck by the team with their wallet since the 1st season.

My recollection is that it's your name etched in an actual wall in our stadium for free. Although they did a "cloth wall" a season or two ago that they used to put up along the outfield wall in the stadium so I'm not 100% sure about the actual stadium wall thing.

Here's the FAQ about the banner wall: https://www.nycfc.com/content/founding-members-wall-faqs
And we actually had a short thread about it at the time (May 2015): http://nycfcforums.com/index.php?threads/founding-members-wall.2927/

In my memory it is a wall as well, but I can't find a reference to a wall anywhere. The page I link above is from 2015 when they were making the late final push for founding memberships. I also found the email I got in 2014 when I put down my deposit and it is worded slightly differently but substantively it is the same: "The opportunity to have your name etched in stone and on display as a Founding Member at New York City FC's future stadium." I think I just figured they wouldn't etch things in stone on the ground. But some places do the paving stone thing. I do think there will be a Founders Wall somewhere just with names, and separately a place with bricks that can be personalized for a fee, possibly underfoot, which seems to be how it's done most of the time.

By that time hopefully in large enough font to accommodate old age induced failing vision and located in an area of the stadium accessible by walkers.

Does J-Lew know where my cloth wall section is?

They did something kinda cool and then allowed hardly anyone access to go look for their name.

i cant imagine we've had half a million unique users care about that thread but what do i know.
I want to agree with you, but you posted that, then I clicked on this thread after that, so that then should have been #475,000, and I then clicked back to the index and back in here several times. And its still currently listed at 474,999.

So either its broken, only counts up to that number, or is unique user views.
