TFC Postmatch

our right side got raped tonight. RJ was able to somewhat manage it, but once lopez and white went in they just got murdered over and over again. leading to the 2nd goal which rj is also to blame for

Please don't use the term rape. One of the persons in our section was yelling that Yangel "should kill himself" because of his miss. There were parents with young kids three feet away. It's not appropriate language regardless of the audience.

pornhub just took down the highlights from the game because it was too excessive.

Thoughts on Jack not going down for the PK late in the first half? (39th minute I think)

Not wishing that he starts taking dives, but that was clearly a foul, and once he fights through it he is now at a much worse angle for a shot on goal. Also, Moor is already sitting on a yellow, and therefore would have (hopefully) seen a second yellow and been out of the game.
See we're a bad enough team that we want to play teams without their best players, and want red cards and penalties... fascinating. "But but we're third!" Yeah but if we feel the need to wish for penalties and red cards we don't have much confidence in our third place team do we?

In post-match media from the team, Vieira has admitted that he bunkered and held on for the draw in order to save us against Chicago, and acknowledging that we were being outplayed. Bizarrely, that makes some kinda sense if he figured he couldn't fix it. But it's troubling that he can't fix it despite no apparent change in game plan from TFC to adjust to and with fresh legs on the bench.

Also in post-match media a lot of players and Vieira himself saying we need to manage the game better. I want to believe this is admitting that we threw on the wrong subs in the wrong formation, but it's probably just the typical, cagey post-match non-answer drivel we usually get.

No, I wanted Harrison to actually score there, but that didn't happen. So I was just curious others thoughts on it.

Ok, time to rail on PV and the subs. This is the second game in a row where he lost the plot trying to protect a lead/tie and got ran off the field because he conceded the midfield. Taking off midfielders to put on "extra" defenders kills your shape, and quite frankly for the last 20 minutes, Toronto practically did what they wanted with their backups.

In the game, it was clear that most of Toronto's danger came from Vazquez in zone 14 distributing and they let him basically do that all night. It got worse when "super" Mikey Lopez came on and went to complete hell when Ethan White came on.

Bring on some fresh legs, run at their back line (screaming for Lewis) or bring on Okoli to save Villa and hold up the ball. If you want to bring on another MF, put Maxi on the wing, but keep his energy on the field.

And finally...you have one of the most technical midfielders of all time sitting on the bench. You want to hold the ball and slow down the game, and you are telling me you'd rather have Mikey Lopez on the field? You're not asking Pirlo to play the 6, he'll have Ring and Herrera behind him. Put him in the game and have him manage it out...and also, if you put some fresh legs up front, Pirlo can drop a dime over the tired D and end the game. It is a disgrace that Andrea Pirlo has found himself behind Mikey effing Lopez on the depth chart. Come on.

Sub 1: Pirlo for Tommy Mac, move Maxi to wing
Sub 2: Lewis for Harrison (or Maxi)
Sub 3: Okoli for Villa. Or sub Okoli for TMac and put Villa on the wing earlier.

Oh, and we have to talk about that egregious Herrera miss in the 82nd minute. Come on son!

So now basically NYCFC needs to win against CHI, at least tie TOR again and beat RBNY to have any success on this homestand. Shield is done, folks. And frankly if PV can't figure out how to manage a game, top 2 seed is gone too.
This is pretty much my thoughts exactly, without the profanity.

Given our personnel there is no worse tactic than attempting to park the bus with a lead. It is destined to fail, and has predictably several times this season. As mentioned, instead keep and dominate possession, bring in some game killers to run the ball into the corners, and look for chances to extend the lead. Attempting to clog doesn't work. Nor does resorting to long balls to nobody which is essentially punting possession back and wasting little time. FFS.

Maybe this is the wake up call to PV and the staff that should already have been blaring for a while now. This team is too good and talented to lose points due to such fundamental tactical mistakes.

The night did get off to a good start grabbing drinks/eats with Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan and JGarrettLieb at Legends. At one point I noticed that a gentleman and two kids were attempting to get into Legends, presumably to grab a pre-game bite. I then noticed that it was Pirlo's two kids, and mentioned that to MM and co. Their chaperone (I am not sure who he was) seemed to be trying to explain who they were and convince the security guard at the door to let them in. For whatever reason, the guard had no interest in admitting them (or understanding of who they were), and hastily sent them away. The poor Maestro gets no respect.
