Once again, political sermonizing.... can we get back to soccer and leave the "non-political" politics to other forums. Cause whether something should or shouldn't be political is irrelevant. It is and this isn't a political forum as I understand it.
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure politics weren't discussed. If you feel this subject is political, then that's on you, but nobody is spouting off Dem/GOP jargon. The thread is 2017 Jerseys, and the topic happens to be the numbers on the USNT Jersey.

Most organizations aren't democracies. Does your org vote on what time your boss takes a shit?

No one is saying you have to wear a whatever-you-called-it camiseta. The burden of proof is on the people who are complaining that nobody should.
When my boss takes a shit, he doesn't unilaterally make us dab it on ourselves and wear it around the rest of the day. (Ftr: the shit is your analogy, not mine)

But again, it looks like you agree with me inadvertently, and the purpose is because it makes someone at USSF feel better.

Let me ask you this: do you think the players voted?

Hell, where do you draw the line? Does everyone get a month?

Make a tifo. Make a post. Make a contribution. Sell the shirts. Just don't wear them on the field. It's not even a club we're talking about here. It's a national federation leader taking a totalitarian stance to support what many view as political.

I may not see it as political because my view is to treat everyone the same. But that means recognizing that some people do, and they are just as constitutionally protected to have that opinion.

I just loathe this talking and thinking down to people who don't agree with what the zeitgeist calls correct. It's literally a totalitarian ideology endorsed by popular media. It completely fails to acknowledge that IT in and of itself is a massive proponent and beneficiary of divisiveness.

And Ulrich Ulrich, you are right. It likely would go that way. But I'd like each player to have an option. Hell, let them wear the number set they choose. That would be fine. I just loathe force feeding by a pseudo-governmental organization to people when the goal isn't to stop imminent violence.

(ETA: your analogy is totally dead on, if the McDonald's employee is head chef at the ritz on his "off time")

-----

Talk about what you want. I don't see why SFphoto posted this here to begin with, but it hasn't been stopped when OT before in this thread, so whatever.

In any event, I either admire or pity the people capable of figuratively choking down the cognitive dissonance required to claim they want equality for all, so long as all supports what they support. Of course, that assumes they accept the validity of contrary ideas, which seems in doubt to me.

Man, I cannot muster the disagreements per character required for a proper response to this tonight. See you on the morrow.

Don't give a shit if you do or do not, and I don't mean that dismissively. I don't write to convince. I write to give voice to ideas that aren't always popular because I personally loathe the idea of popularity determining right and wrong.

Look, I've crawled through the faux reason muck of the pop intelligentsia my entire life. You won't make a new argument.

Well, I understand your motivations if not the reason behind the ramblings ;)

So while I'm regenerating after a frankly shit week - what should determine what's right and wrong? I don't have an answer that I 100% believe in, but I'm interested in your opinion.

I don't have an answer for you. I only have an answer for me.

I long for the day when sports will be a politics free zone... no barriers left to break and no discrimination or prejudice. While that may always exist with some of the fans (and they are idiots), it would be nice to have a refuge from the ubiquitousness of politics now present in American life. For God's sake, I can't buy vegetables at the local supermarket, watch a movie or attend a game without being subjected to political sermonizing. It doesn't matter if I agree with you or not. I just want to watch a game, in part, to escape it all. And now, that's not even possible.

Again, it doesn't matter if I support the cause or not and these jerseys won't do anything to educate anyone about anything.

Wait, where the hell are you shopping? I only have to deal with idiots who park their cart in the middle of the aisle or stand in front of the egg case for 5. Minutes.
