Based on current preseason performance who would you like to see as our starting keeper?
You may change your vote. Based on performance in games you may change from one player(s) to another.

Surprised at this outcome so far. Thought it would be closer to 50/50.

I think with the average fan it would be 50/50 or more likely 75/25 in favor of Saunders but the results make sense for the forums. If you're obsessive enough to watch preseason games like we all do you most likely understand the value of distribution and can't be wowed by dramatic saves that are often a result of the keeper being out of position.

If Eirik continues to impress and wins the starting spot its going to be an interesting 1st home game when 80% of the stadium totally unaware shows up to find their beloved Saunders on the bench.

Due to the support for Saunders and people not even being aware of us having 1 bench keeper yet alone 2 (Rawls at the moment) I see Saunders starting the first couple of games and having to essentially lose the starting job due to performance.

Do you think they would boo? Do you think we would hear boos?

Johansen seems decent, but I picked the baldy because he's in my fantasy team. Gotta get dem points.

Didn't Saunders just sign a multi year contract though? What would be the point of benching him after that?

Same point as not starting cookie burger if he's hurt or maybe not in the shape anymore to represent our best 11. The point is to put the team on the pitch that gives us the best opportunity to win.

you're right I phrased it wrong. What I meant is why sign a multi year contract with him if you're looking for better talent to start?

You sign him because you need depth at the position and he is either a starter or a reasonably priced backup that doesn't take an international spot. We wont know until they release salaries mid season but I doubt we payed all that much on the extension. He's 34 and was out of the MLS when we signed him playing in the NASL when we signed him. Yes, he had a decent season last year but I doubt it was enough to have MLS teams lining up to sign him to the point that his new contract is all that much.

Ouch, sucks to be the player pic they use for that specific article (even though it talks more about our back four and lack of defensive help from the midfield)

Why is the MLS website publishing garbage like this that does nothing but shit on its own players? It's just in bad taste and unnecessary, regardless of how bad any of these guy might be.

NFL does it all the time. MLS probably thinks anything that draws eyeballs to the MLS is a good thing.

If they want to attract eyeballs, then perhaps they should update their efffing Roster page instead of this fantasy fluff. I mean considering they haven't updated it in well over 24 hours and yesterday was the deadline for teams to submit their rosters and all that stuff. ;)
