Joe Dickerson...Chris Penso...Allen Chapman...Ted Unkel...they're all the same.

A speedy recover to Heber. I want to see him smile again.

0.77 goals per game this year. 1.85 goals per game last year.

Let Ring be Ring. Let Sands be Sands. The front four can be aggressive with the foursome behind them. I may not be an analytics expert, but this ain't rocket science.

I don't know, 9 times out of 10 we put one of those first half chances away and this game is fine. Ring at LW is still no good, but players who've been awful all season (Gudi, Parks, GMS) were actually pretty good tonight, and we looked worse when they came off.

Bottom line: this team cannot win games - or even score! - without Maxi on the pitch, and until we fix that this team isn't going to win shit. Blow it up this season and find another way to play in 2021.

First of all hoping all the best for heber but if its what it looked like hes done for the year.

team cant score and clear chances are still in small quantities all year. I still think deila management sucks and his experiments are not really something they should be doing as plan A. Lineups are all over the place.

parks is not meant to be such and offensive player i know some want him there but he is not offensive guy i recall two times he went forward and lost the ball and he also cant finish. Let him be in deeper midfield

they need to sign a striker ( i forgot if transfer window still open) now with heber out although i think he will play medina in striker role.

i do feel bad for acevedo he gets minutes and then the handball happens, watch deila leave him in bench more now. The penalty was not truly why we lost, not finishing chances and bad chance creation are. Same issues all year.

I'm not going to try to comprehensively discuss this game. But one sequence is emblematic for me of the problem with the line-up choices.

58', right after Taty is subbed out. Free kick at the halfway line, Sands finds Tinnerholm, Tinny goes inside and then cuts it back out to GMS, GMS crosses inside and Heber gets it down and lays it off with his foot, and it ends up back with Tinnerholm who has run back inside. He doesn't shoot, and LionNYC LionNYC said in the match chat that there were one too many passes, but at any rate, he passes left to Ring. Ring kind of runs at goal/kind of runs at the end line to make an impossible angle. It's saved by Bono.

My guess is that Deila deflects at the press conference, or gets a pass, because of the Heber injury and he'll say we played well for 85 minutes and the penalty was a fluke. But I don't agree with that

yes it seems those that need to shoot dont do it and pass to someone else kills everything. I figure heber and taty need to be shooting not doing dummy pass

I actually thought Parks was pretty good dribbling past the midfield defense and drawing their LB to get Tinnerholm space in the first half. His short passing and ability to get moving into space with the ball is fantastic. Anything beyond that is really too much for his role, offensively, although he made some nice runs when playing more as the 10.

I'm concerned Ronny's going to try to gut this team over the offseason and that makes me sad.

I think it's funny to watch everyone on this board micromanage each player as if, for example, when Parks ran down the middle three times and created chances and then was dispossessed twice, it was why we lost. We dominated the midfield. We created PLENTY OF CHANCES. Parks was very good today, Tinner was Tinner, Sands and Chanot continued to be a wall, GMS had a solid match, Gudi is better both ways than Mata, SJ came up big the few times he was called upon, and so on. The subs never gelled, but that doesn't matter if the starting XI FINISH THEIR CHANCES.

We lost because of three things:

1) We didn't finish
2) We didn't finish
3) We didn't finish*

This feels exactly like Dome September 2018. Dominate and lose or draw. But as shitty as that feels, I'd rather dominate and lose or draw than bunker in and get the same result, or be Red Bull -- i.e. ugly as hell. And TFC may have won but that had to be almost as painful to watch for the as it was for us. They basically showed nothing for 90' and lucked out. This team is a razor's width from running the table and it is, as it has been since 2016, all about finishing. Period. Full stop.

The Heber injury and the questionable pen made this feel worse than it should have.

We just have to finish our chances. It's that simple.

* and the reffing was trash

screw that id much rather win boring 1-0 and get titles and play nice and lose and not get the silverwear like last year for example and other years where we were top of east.
This year we not getting results and not really dominating where it matters in The final third

the way its going 0-0 and 1-0 losses will happen more and lose out on more points its not well

With RBNJ winning tonight we have identical records lol. Except for the GD. Two flawed, midtable teams with disgruntled fans.

I think you are being obtuse and intentionally misreading what I wrote? We had several creative sequences that could have been goals. I will even be generous and say they were chances, subjectively to both Ronny and me, even if the one I mentioned does not actually count as a shot on goal. But if you field a line-up with players out of position, even if they perform well, I think it's foolish, for eample, to expect that Ring on the left wing will result in goals from anything more than high probability chances. The penalty is a non-issue if we actually score goals but it allows a dodge on actually discussing that there was a more fundamental problem the entire time before Heber's injury and the penalty.

I don't know who you're directing this to, but it's the opposite of what I said. This isn't an issue of bad luck in one game and the chances not going our way, it's been an issue every game. Our top scorer is Alex Ring. With 3 goals. Why on earth would you ask a defensive mid to finish your chances? Our xG through the New England game was 10.8, putting us at almost the same rate of chances as Montreal, New England, RB and Cincinnati.

No, I'm saying that if Ronnie says at the press conference that we played well for most of the game and lost to a fluke penalty, then I'll agree with him. Because that's what happened. Doesn't mean I like the guy, agree with his team selection, or think we couldn't have done any better tonight (see my first post). But I'm not going to pretend we were total dogshit and didn't create any proper chances just because we didn't convert any and lost to a random penalty. Maybe xG or whatever stat we're using these days will back you up, but I doubt it.

If Heber tore his ACL, isn’t he done for most of next season as well?

There seems to be two sides.. one who are all on Ronny and his poor management being the cause of our woes and the other just putting it simply that we can't finish. Why isnt it both?

Imho, Ronny's poor player selection is the reason we can't finish. How do you expect players to get into form if they don't play? And of all our players it's the attackers who see the field the least. For all Ronny's bullshit about attacking, he seems much more interested in defending and his subs and player selection shows this.

He puts ring on the wing cause he knows ring will track back and ring does. At times he's basically a wing back on a 5 man back line. You wouldn't see mitri doing this because mitri would be upfield waiting for the outlet to start the counter. Instead taty was there by myself isolated with two CBs, which will never work.

Are we dominating games? Sure. We are passing well lately for the most part but we still struggle against any kind of high pressure. TFC are a good squad but anyone could see they weren't playing like they can. Our domination has been against teams who are happy to let us have the ball or just art up to high press us like tfc tonight.

Who can blame any of them? We are unable to break a bank of defenders down with anything but crosses from the width. And we can't finish. Why would any team be afraid of our attack? They look at ring at wing and they laugh at us.

I'm not gonna say we played poorly tonight. We didn't. For the most part, everyone played pretty well everywhere except the final third.

For all his hard work and improvement over last year, Medina doesn't deserve to start. He's not a true threat. Mitri or isi need to start. Gary works hard but also not a proven scorer so he needs to sit too. There's no reason either of them start over mitri, isi, and taty. NO Reason!

I forget who said it but gudi is not good going forward. He's serviceable at best.. maybe Ben sweat caliber. But he's been good on defense which is his first priority so I can't complain. With mata's form this year, I prefer him to start though.

Unlucky for cacha. His face said it all. Hope the guys gave him a good talk to let him know it's ok.

Refs have sucked the last few games. I don't understand how they aren't being reprimanded for obviously poor calls. Tatys yellow and oral warning were ridiculous and changed the game.
