can he even leave next month? I thought roster freeze was next week. If he is loaned out doesnt that mean we dont have him as option for october/ playoffs
That's probably the idea. We're not really going to need him for the rest of the season, so it's better to get regular playing time in the USL than to hang around scrounging sub appearances.

The really interesting thing will be what happens next year. Say Ring stays, Herrera goes, and Sands has had a good loan and offseason. Does Dome bump Ring up to a regular CM role? Play them in the double pivot? Sign a new CM and keep Sands as Ring's backup at DM?

I would be surprised if a temporary loan to a USL side eliminates the chance to participate in the playoffs given how many teams have USL affiliates that they frequently shuttle players to and from. But, MLS is full of surprises.

we loaned gomes last year and we needed defenders, his USL season was done and still didnt get him back. I figured it was because of rules in place. Unless PV didnt think he would of helped at all.

Absolutely snubbed by Ramos. Crazy bad decision not to name him to the U20 World Cup roster.
Sux for him and unfair. But good for us. And he’ll get plenty of development training with us and starting for our team this summer.

Only worry is could this mean his injury is more serious than we thought and that was the reason Ramos didn’t choose him?? I hope not!

I doubt its injury related. Much more likely its Ramos. I am no fan of Ramos coaching and roster selection. It was ridiculous 2 years ago when he didn't pick Jon Lewis for the U20WC and its even more ridiculous he isn't picking Sands.

It is good for NYCFC in terms of winning in 2019.

Yeah, I've heard in places on Twitter that Sands has been training in advance of the game tomorrow. Though I'm not sure what his actual availability for that match is.

Which of course is more BS because Pomykal and McKenzie are both coming off injuries and are expected to be ready to play by the WC.

I don't believe the club would say no to a U20 WC. A good tournament increases a players value way more than MLS starts at Columbus and Chicago.
To be fair, we don't yet know how serious James' injury is.

So, TopDrawSoccer tells me that James Sands graduation year is 2019.

Is he getting a high school diploma in a couple of weeks?

MLS Diploma. Moving on to Graduate School in a European League.... waiting to hear about his financial aid packages before selecting the program.
