Ecuadorian press is announcing the move from Andrés "La Belleza" Mendoza to NYCFC on December.

Here is some basic info about the guy, who is currently playing for Universidad Católica de Ecuador:

It seems that the president of the club and the player have confirmed the transfer.

And they quote Mendoza:
“Será demasiado lindo estar allá, sé que va a ser un cambio grande, pero espero hacer las cosas bien”
("It would be great to be there. I know that it's a big change, but I hope to do well".
 
From his highlight reel posted in the rumors thread it looks like this guy has some really good ball skills, could be a great possession player. It looks like he primarily played CB in Chile, but with his ball skills he could be a monster at CDM. I'm sure we won't really know what we have in Mendoza until we see him in some preseason games, but this signing seems to have some upside.

I'm also guessing our MCFC brothers pointed us in his direction, which shows the value of the shared scouting system. Kries probably sat down and described a player he needs at CB/CDM, and they directed us straight to Ecuador and Mendoza. I highly doubt we have our own scouts there.

 
Not official, but both Mendoza and a club official are saying that the signing is imminent. I'd imagine that they may still be hammering out some contract details. If we do end up signing I'd be happy with the signing. Seems to be very strong in the air and in fighting for the ball.

Looks Kompany-esque. And has one hell of a strike.

He looks like a top player.
 
Yea. Haven't heard anything about him since. Was he being scouted by our guys, are we signing him? Was he using us as a bargaining chip? What's going on?
 
So I guess this was all crap I imagine if a deal was in place they would have announced it today.
