That's assuming there wasn't also a dislocation or ligament damage, I would imagine. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a dislocation considering what his foot looked like. The team didn't exactly bless us with complete information. Surgery for a lower leg fracture means he may have had screws inserted, and that doesn't feel like a 2-month recovery.

Same. From all accounts (mainly blue balls pod) he was a “glue guy” in the locker room, bilingual, universally liked, upbeat. And was playing very productively on top of that.
He's right there with Tayvon as my favorite player, and for the same reasons: total baller with a great personality. (Apparently, they're tight off the pitch, which only makes sense.)

I was ecstatic when we got Pepe on a permanent basis. I was sure he'd develop into what he's become if he got the chance. It took a while — longer than I would have preferred — but he got there, only to have this happen.

I hate FieldTurf.

And yes, I know an injury like that can happen at any time. These athletes play at a very high-stress, very dynamic level. But it's clear to me his foot stuck to the turf when he landed and didn't slide the way it would have on natural grass. I've seen it happen too many times to miss it.

Anyway, I hope and pray he can come back all the way. He had just crossed the threshold into being something special, just as Tayvon did when he came back from Jamaica duty with new-found attacking skills in his game (sorry for doubting you, Tay). I want to see him starting when I walk into our park in 2027.
