Still, who is calling the game? Do the people streaming the game have to suffer through Shep Messing?
When I was a kid, there was an indoor soccer place called "Shep Messing's" near my house on Long Island. It was one of my favorite places to go -- fast game, the ball rocketing all over the place without having to run around a big open field. Great times.

Now every time I watch the Red Bulls games I have to listen to his commentary and its like he is killing a little bit of one of my favorite childhood memories.

Someone said last year's game was on YES. I don't recall as I was at the game.

Should be easy to see if any other teams are televising live.

Cable and networks screwing themselves. The more they make people use streaming services who find out its easy, the quicker their demise comes. MLS are backwards trying to get the big ESPN/network contract. They should be streaming games free and keeping the ad revenue for themselves.
Didn't you tell me I was wrong when I said that long-term, networks as we know them are dead men walking?

The issue for most of them is they don't have a way to scale (until they meet me).

I don't think I said that. If I did it was different context. Networks are curators. Theyll have a place but not the Monopoly they have now

Right, and the year before that, the game was on One World -- the home team controls the TV rights for the US Open Cup, so if MSG wasn't doing it YES probably isn't allowed to.

Were you wearing your Arrows jersey? Steve Zungul?

Damn, I wish I had one of those. I do have a very fuzzy memory of seeing the Arrows play Arsenal live at Nassau Coliseum in what must have been the early 80s. I would have only been 5 of 6 at the time, so this may or may not have actually happened.

Ha ha, close, it was against the NY Express (article below) the replacement team for the Arrows on which Shep was both the president and goalie. I have so many great childhood memories following the original Cosmos and then the Arrows, only to have, like you, Shep tarnish those memories in recent years.

In a recent move, my dad uncovered a ball Pele signed for me, and also a program from another year signed by most of the Cosmos including Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, Giorgio Chinaglia, and some other greats. Though he couldn't find my Arrows Branco Segota jersey. Yup, I just aged myself, but at least I look young.
