I love going to Ommegang, it's just over 45 minutes or so from where I live. We've been to a few concerts up there and it's a great experience. Plus their beers are excellent!

Yes, I've had that as well luckily. We have an excellent beer store in Astoria called Astoria Bier and Cheese and they always have excellent choices on tap and in the refrigerator.
Chocolate peanut butter porter sounds very tempting, but not available in the City. Worth crossing over to Red Bull country to get some?

Looking for recs for beer stores now that the beer distributor on Chrystie St is gone and my supplies have run out. There’s plenty of places near me but I haven’t found anywhere that can match the affordability and obscurity New Beer Distributors used to offer. I do get to Pioneer occasionally but it’s hit or miss for them having exactly what I want. Any suggestions appreciated, Manhattan preferably.

Never got my hands on one. Wanted to though.
I was gifted a 750ml bottle of Allagash Curieux and thoroughly enjoyed it. The timing on it was perfect too as it was totally unexpected and hit the mood target on the bullseye.
Such a great beer, if anyone ever finds themselves in Portland Maine I would highly recommend a stop at their brewery. It's one of the best I've ever been to, interesting stuff on tap to try, a giant outdoor area and the day I went they had an amazing lobster roll food truck there.
There are certainly trendier stops in the area including Bissel Brothers which is essentially the Maine version of Other Half but if I only had time for one stop I'd choose Allagash and if I had extra time I'd drive down the road about 25 min to Maine Beer Co.
A few months back while in Amsterdam I had the pleasure of trying Westvleteren Quadrupel - aka the beer with no name. I was at a bar and in true Dutch fashion my group and another group of locals merged. They were beyond friendly - and as a birthday gift one bought be this beer, which he himself had never tasted because it is rare, but the bar happened to have some that night. I kindly shared it and we all were blown away by its taste. It used to perennially be the #1 or #2 beer in the world - not sure where it stands now.
I managed to find another bottle before I left and brought it back to the states for my friends to try. If you ever want a nice gift - try to order a 6-pack of these you can occasionally get it shipped to the states for about $100 plus shipping.
