Choice Of Team Bench

Did anyone think it odd that NYCFC chose the team bench nearest the right field corner and not center field?

My experience has been that the home team chooses the former because it is closest to the assistant referee on that side of the field. I thought that perhaps NYCFC chose the side of the field that they did so that they had the "infield" portion during warm-ups (to avoid having the visiting team complain about that); however, the field crew did such a good job that the turf for the infield seemed fine.

Does anyone have insight into the team bench selection?

I thought the same thing. I assumed it was so they didn't mess up the Yankee infield more, especially when the subs warm up.
