Time to start praying to the soccer gods that it's not a long term injury, and this is just precautionary.UPDATE:
"Having evaluated the evolution in the first hours of the elongation suffered by David Villa in training this morning, it has been decided that the player should leave the concentration and not travel to Liechtenstein .
The medical services of the Selection have informed the of their club."

UPDATE, 4pm ET Sunday:
The Spanish national team announced this afternoon that Villa will, after all, not travel with the team to Liechtenstein, and will be returning to NYCFC. Stay tuned for more updates on his health once he is back with his club.

Latter report is based on the former. I would say the announcement is ambiguous. It could be the MRI was bad and Spain is letting him go because he's useless anyway. Or it could be the medicals are unclear to good but everyone decided it was better to send him back to his club given Spain probably wasn't starting him anyway.
As amazing as it was to see him back with Spain, and how damn happy he seemed, it will not have been worth it for the worst case scenario of him missing multiple games, dropping out of the #2 seed, losing the Golden Boot and the MVP.
