I'm proud to have him as our captain.
Honest question - is he the best player in MLS? The move he put on Farrell that led to the Mullins goal is something only Thierry Henry or Robbie Keane could have pulled off in MLS. I know he is 33, but I don't know if there is a more fascinating player to watch on a weekly basis than Villa. Dempsey would have to be in the conversation also.
The flair that he and Mix play with is beautiful to watch. The folks in the stands were genuinely entertained with how the team played. Like watching the Harlem Globetrotters.

I think its between him and Kaka in all honesty, and I think Lampard will be in the equation when he joins this summer.

He's clearly in the conversation. If you're not a NYCFC fan and you have MLS Live, NYCFC is already on your list of "oh they're on I need to watch this match so I can watch Villa."

I'd say he's comfortably the best player in the MLS. The season before he signed he was a regular starter for Atletico - a team that was minutes away from winning the Champions League and finished above Barcelona and Real Madrid domestically. He is a great player, very few forwards are as complete as he is. To put it simply, as he has already demonstrated, he will score goals and create chances on a regular basis. Lampard is excellent, of course, but he is more of a luxury player than Villa, and as for who is the better overall player there can be no debate. Villa's influence in a game over 90 minutes is remarkable, whereas Lampard relies more on critical aspects of the game where he will step up and be noticed.
The one thing that struck me most from watching him in the two games was his desire though. With a player of Villa's stature and history, going to a league like the MLS as his career is winding down, you would always have to question do they still have that passion for the game that helped get them to the top? Watching Villa, he has silenced any doubts over that. He is really up for this new chapter in his career, and I think the fact NYCFC is a new team is a big part of that, he knows he can make history here and leave a real legacy behind.

In regards to Villa being the best player in the MLS, I'd love to say yes, but it's week two. Obviously had a superb game on Sunday, but let's give it a little time before crowning anyone.
