[Debunked] Strange Rumor from Reddit: CFG Open to Buying Cosmos Brand?

If this is true, perhaps the Cosmos become an affiliated club in the USL much like the Long Island Rough Riders are an affiliated club as others have mentioned. But if this does happen, we better make sure we beat them at least 3 times before the deal happens.
 
It's all bullshit. Just as most everyone said, but it was a fun distraction.

Congrats to the guy masturbating his ego over people talking about it on a message board. Who gives a fuck. We talk about Suarez and Messi, too. Shit is boring for us right now until we know who we play.

Good for him a f.cosmos sympathizer took the bait. We're not buying a fucking thing. That clown show will fold and return to sharing a desk drawer with dollar store receipts and fap tissues.

I really want us to buy the name and keep it as our feeder team in the USL. It's probably needlessly expensive to consider as an option but I would love to see the impotent rage from cosmos fans.

I was treated better by Eagles fans in their stadium while I was wearing a manning jersey than I was by cosmos fans.

The Cosmos fan base seems to think that everyone is out to get them or something, I thought they were just nuts. After meeting them I'm convinced some people are out to get them, those people are the ones who've had the misfortune of meeting their fans or their ownership.

I am the one who "started" the rumor lol. I have heard optimistic talk from some Cosmos supporters who want to be in MLS, and some NYCFC supporters who don't exactly like the whole City Football Group umbrella. I do not think there is any legitimate movement in NYCFC brass regarding the acquisition of the Cosmos brand. I really do not.

I have friends from the Bronx who immediately hopped on the NYCFC train but viewed the adopted colors/branding/everything as a silly hybrid of Yankees' branding and that of Man City, and they were optimistic about the NYCFC acronym fitting the idea of the team adopting the Cosmos brand. That's it. I'm not an intern for MLS nor NYCFC lol. I'm a Revs supporter from Rhode Island, my only connection is to the Revs youth system as my neighbor/former coach is a coach in their academy.

With all of this said.. don't focus on rebranding, focus on getting a stadium that can fit a real pitch! And feel free to throw daggers at this Revs supporter because we all share the same sentiment about Gillette Stadium lol

lol so this all came from a knowing a few cosmos friends of his that want to support a team in MLS and nyc based fans that dont like the man city connection so had an idea to come off of it.

might as well go down the list my friends there are some in there too that dont like that man city connection and dont follow any team.

I never said that there was this huge movement and that it was being discussed by club brass. /u/sbrylski said that he was interested in the possibility of the Red Bulls taking on the Cosmos branding. I simply said that I thought that it would make more sense if NYCFC did it, and that I actually heard some talk from both supporters of both camps regarding the hypothetical switch. I made the mistake of saying I had heard a "ton" of talk lol. People equated that to me hearing something from NYCFC brass for some odd reason, then it spiraled into me being some intern with insider information lol.

It was not my post which started a rumor, but the misinterpretation of my comment.

Reminds me of the Glickman talk that "people in bars" said they weren't going to support NYCFC and we were supposed to be nervous because that meant we'd be drawing f.cosmos numbers.

In fairness I think you got shafted by Zardem, who picked up the story and made comments that far more strongly suggested that talks had actually taken place. Based on the way he posted (and given his affiliation to the Red Bulls), I get the feeling he was probably stirring for a reaction.
