I would really, really, really love if Israel could qualify for this World Cup.

Anyway, once we get to the 48 team format, I can see Israel qualifying for most world cups as they're usually very close every cycle but miss bc of better teams, they might have a shot now. However, that'll be for our world cup, not Qatar's. (Please pull and Iceland, please!)

It makes sense. I guarantee a shit ton of Israelis attend regardless if Israel qualifies or not.

Most Israelis seem to keep kosher in terms of meat in my experiences. Dairy is all good though.

• In 2018 they finished 4th in their group. There were 5 other UEFA teams that didn't advance to the finals after finishing second in their group.
• In 2014 they finished 3rd in their group, but again, 5 other UEFA teams didn't advance after finishing 2nd in their groups. Other teams that finished 3rd include Serbia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia. I can't remember the quality of all of those squads back in 2014, but they are usually decent
• In 2010, they finished 4th in their group, again 5 other UEFA teams didn't advance after finishing 2nd in their respective groups.

If the following article is to be trusted at all (https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39448474), then UEFA would only grab 3 more spots. Based on the last three WC qualifying rounds, I don't see how Israel is close to qualifying.

I don't mean to pooh pooh Israel. And perhaps they have a lot of young talent and should be better in the next couple of cycles, I just don't see any evidence from previous UEFA WC qualifying to suggest that they should be in most WCs going forward.

Nah, Israel sucks at soccer lol. I actually didn't see that UEFA would grab just 3 more slots, I was thinking they'd get spoiled again and get another like 6-8 spots (since they always get a brunt of the allocation) If it's only like 3 more, then I don't see them qualifying... Still means they have a higher chance, though, but unlikely.

I've never heard it before, but find it surprising. I spent a few months with a group training about 100 Israeli soldiers on something and they were very cooperative and attentive. Maybe it was just the military environment which brings upon more discipline.

All I'm gathering from this discussion is that like 99% of this forum either are Jewish, or have some other ties with Israel. (Better than wherever I walk, some random dude will always come up to me and say "my name is Marty. But you can call me Menachem.")

I played with a lot of the youth teams in both the league and the NT there, so I know a lot of the players 26 and younger. I know the mentality of the players there lol, it’s not a stereotype. It’s a sport not a life or death exercise, israelis have a vastly bloated ego outside the barracks.

I'm Israeli, though moved when I was 6, but my entire family is too and has served in the military. (Except me, since I live here) I can agree, Israelis have bloated egos- they always think they're the smartest ones around in any group of people and everything they say is always right no matter what. ...and it's also the same reason they suck at soccer.

"It is the first time Platini, 63, has been placed in custody regarding the attribution of the 2022 World Cup."
