Facey & Angelino. Pirlo & Lampard. Youth versus Experience. Defense is our biggest hole, besides not being able to finish chances.

If Angelino and Facey both leave NYCFC following this year, which they are expected to (unless the loans are extended), we would be losing half of our backline. We don't know what Lampard & Pirlo will bring to this team, but it won't be any improvements in defense and stopping the attack. Facey since moving to CB has been solid (though with another above average to good CB the duo would be great for MLS). From today Angelino looks to be a big contributor to this team. And with more time, they will be getting even better as they reach their prime.

Top heavy teams don't bear well in MLS. We better be scoring at least 4 goals every game with the defense we might have following this year (losing Angelino and Facey). We haven't seen Lampard or Pirlo but they will certainly contribute. However, they are getting older and they'll both be closer to 40 when they are done with the club.

Answer the poll, discuss further. It's an interesting talking point. CFG should realize that these players would help NYCFC more than Man City. If they are committed to success for all of their clubs, let us keep the players that will help us win trophies, plural.

There are a million variables we don't have insight into, but it feels like Facey could be a long term option. He is clearly much better at CB than RB, but I don't think he is a credible CB in the Premier League at any team, let alone Man City, given his size. Angelino is, as best I can tell, much more highly rated at Man City and you can see his game fitting in very well if he develops. Seems unlikely that we have any chance of keeping him long-term, but he sure seems like he'll be fun to have for the next few months.

We're not keeping Angelino long term. Facey yes, but If we're lucky Angelino might stay for next season but that's if CFG hooks us up.

I think they might give us Angelino for next season. Honestly Man City is absolutely stacked on their back line.

If CFG winds up pulling him from NYCFC its because he would be going on loan to a premier league club with the promise of lots of starting minutes. From developing Angelino as a player, this might be best for him, from what I saw yesterday he has the technical skill for that; he just needs some more muscle on his frame.

But from a business perspective, CFG want to build winning teams in every league they compete in. And Angelino definitely helps NYCFC compete at the highest level of MLS. So I can see CFG keeping Angelino over here for one additional year to make sure that when he does go back to the premier league that NYCFC have had two seasons to get rid of the deadwood that the draft forced on us.

Honestly, now that I've written that, 50/50 he stays/goes at the end of the season.

Shay Facy probably stays though, baring significant improvement, he is just not quite good enough for premier league play.

Agreed but I actually would be shocked if they didn't at least extend it another 6 months. That would allow him to get in a full training camp with MCFC and see how he does there at that point.
