Guess The Attendance 2019 - NYCFC vs. Columbus (August 21)

19,828?

I arrived at the stadium 7:39pm. It was still early enough to get a “for the first 10,000 fans” Queens borough pin.

Now now that's different, because not everyone takes the pins. It's "first 10,000 fans to take pins" and I can guarantee you, from when I come into the stadium and watch for a moment, a huge majority of people don't take the pin as the guys just start on the side where you can barely see them

I fucking hate pins. I don’t know why. Just think they’re stupid. I still take them though and give them away. But they are the last thing I’d want the club to give out. Those NYPD/FDNY T-shirts were the best. We need more of those. I actually get use out of those things.

ha.. i actually like the pins. they're unique and a splash of "flair" ;). i collected all 5 and am proud to display them together.

Tshirts are cool too though. can't really expect anything too amazing to be passed out to the masses though.

Agree. I’ve also turned down giveaways I had no interest in. When I think of attendance I think of actual people in the seats, not ticket sales. It appears there was a large gap between those two numbers.

That doesn't necessarily mean you were within the first 10,000 fans through the door. What they do is they send a certain amount of giveaways to each gate -- there's 10,000 of them, but if 5,000 fans come in through the Babe Ruth Plaza and only 1,000 come in through Gate 8, then all of those 1,000 will get pins while some of the 5,000 wouldn't get them.

I've been to Yankees games where all fans get a giveaway, but they've run out of them at the gate I entered so I'm out of luck.

Thanks, I get that. And I wouldn’t even have commented if the reported attendance was much lower. I would like to know the actual difference between tickets scanned at the gate vs ticket sales.

Wow. Perception is funny. I though for sure this was our smallest actual crowd this year, and maybe ever. I even made sure to check again several times during the game because we do often fill in late. I've no idea if I'm right or you are, but to the extent the official attendance number correlates to actual bodies, it supports the idea that the crowd was low, but not extremely so. (IE more favorable to your position).
Champions section had fewer than 60 people in more than 200 seats, although front office assures me the sections are 85% sold.
