Considering how good the team is this year and all the data we have, I think it's pretty clear there has been a David Villa effect on attendance. Which makes sense -- the guy is a global superstar, and everyone wanted to see him play live. I wonder whether the business side is pressuring the sporting side to try to sign another big name for next season, because it seems pretty clear to me that's a main reason for the lesser attendance this year.

A Wednesday night Derby last year got over 30,000, though.
