On a similar note, why isn't the third rail self policing? It is well known that smoke bombs are absolutely unwanted by yankee stadium and security. They are throwing people out and cracking down on other things because of it. Multiple people now have been arrested or thrown out after being wrongfully accused of throwing the smoke bombs. Based on what I've read on twitter, it is known who is bringing the smoke bombs. Are they going to allow supporters to be wrongfully prosecuted of a felony? Why the hell would anyone sit there if you could be arrested just for having a smoke bomb happen to roll to a stop at your feet?

What exactly is Third Rail supposed to do? Are they supposed to pat down everyone that comes into the supporters section? Are they supposed to rat out people who might be responsible and risk being wrong and getting someone wrongfully prosecuted still? Are they supposed to get into one on ones all around the supporters section until a fight breaks out? Are they supposed to personally escort people out that they suspect might have smoke bombs?

I don't think they should do any of those things. But they do have the choice to aggressively speak out in social media, forums, etc against smoke bombs and vocally discourage their use. As I don't go on their forum or social media I can only guess as to whether or not this is being done.

Good point. No easy way out. But I'm a pragmatist. We're not going to smoke bomb our way out of this. It won't wear down Securitas if we keep lighting them. If anything the animosity and aggression will only increase. So that means more arrests, more anger. Given the choice between standing idly by for that or having some people call you a "front office cock jockey", I guess I'd opt to take action.

I will talk to some people. I don't sit in supporters section but I have seen people with pyro outside the stadium and at away games and I have heard things. I will share my opinion about the pyro and the danger of continued use of it and see what happens. Beyond that, you can't expect much else.

No idea and not even sure if it's them - I just recall them having pictures on Instagram showing a bunch of smoke grenades, so that was my first guess

I don't know why you are seeming defensive. Its self preservation. If third rail continues to break the rules, they will only crack down harder. Self policing the most obvious offenders is common sense if you ever want to get the rules relaxed on other issues.
It's a little bit misleading to attribute it to Third Rail. A lot of supporters groups are on record against breaking the rules, smoke/flares in particular. See, e.g. the Blue City Radio episode with Chance Michaels, Oscar Martinez and John Flanagan
I "seem defensive" because I'm a TR member and anything I say in defense of TR will... well... seem defensive. It's just facts though. Self policing for self preservation makes sense. Offer up feasible suggestions on how to do it and I will personally run it to everyone I can at TR. Otherwise, I see it as scapegoating TR because you can't/won't do anything about it.
You make a grand assumption that TR is solely responsible, if responsible at all, in your statement. Why have only two groups been brought up? There are more than I can name off the top of my head and many members split between more than one of each.
You are right. Change my comment to all supporters groups sitting in the supporters sections. My bad. Point still applies though. People sitting around the smoke bombers know who it is. Protecting them, while innocents get thrown out and face felonies is asinine. Reduces my opinions of the groups.
That's fair. As I said, I don't sit there so I don't know the details. I can only imagine the following scenarios:
- The person taken out is actually guilty
- The person taken out didn't do it but also didn't think he/she would end up this deep in trouble so just "took one for the team."
- The people around the culprits either didn't see or are too afraid of the culprits.
- The people around the culprits did speak up but Securitas didn't care and just took someone to make an example of.
Who can say which is accurate? I can't. So I hope that that person gets off if not guilty or is punished if guilty.
