When I first saw him, I thought he looked like a middle-aged Freddy Adu - obviously too tall & muscled to be our prodigal son, but his face looked a lot older than anything I remembered from his NYCFC days.

Doubt it. A lot of people have receding hairlines in their 20's. And Poku's game was one of brute strength, so if he was older than advertised, he wouldn't have had the impact he had, and continued it in Miami. He definitely had endurance and "concentration" issues and that's gotta be the legit reason for his trade; didn't fit our workman-like high intensity style.
We traded him because we got an offer we couldn't refuse.

What does he make now something like $500K? Unless he's developed the stamina to run for more than 10 min Russia can have him at that price.
I was curious about when his contract with Miami actually ends. I couldn't find that one out, but I did see that his salary was supposed to be between $300-350K. Regardless of when his contract ends, you have to wonder if he will really see that money given the situation down in Miami. I just hope he gets some clarity on things quickly so that he's not sitting around until fall and then kicked out on the street having gotten nothing for all that time.
Certainly his salary is too high for someone who would be a change of pace guy in MLS, but he wouldn't make the league minimum either. I can see someone giving him $150-200K to come off the bench and chase late goals.

I'm fully on board for him at $150-200K if that's a possibility. Not sure PV rates him as highly as the majorityof the fan base does as he wasn't playing much prior to the transfer. Super happy for him that he got a considerable payday out of Miami at least for a couple of years. Hopefully things work out for him, has to be a tough spot.
Sorry to quote myself but I take it back, I can't handle the endless "why isn't the amazing Poku starting" crying that will come from the fan base should he return. He would truly help our team as an impact sub but the irrational gap between what he is actually capable of and what the majority of the fan base thinks he's capable of is just far too wide and borderline insufferable.
This is kind of sad, as Gibraltar is barely a pro league. In 2018, the annual average salary for first-team players was a shade over $7,000.

Or, it's possible that despite the fact we made him a folk hero here for scoring seven goals in 36 matches, he either isn't very good and/or has a poor attitude/work ethic behind closed doors.
