needed to develop the young left footed CB in a rebuild season. chanot absolutely should have lost his spot. he was a better CB. but they weren’t playing for the present. they were developing the future.

We were in the middle of a playoff push. Remember according to David Lee the teams goal is to "compete for trophies every season." Rotation is always needed, there was plenty of time to integrate Risa without immediately benching Chanot.

sincerely hope he comes back to the club as a youth coach or maybe even first team assistant coach. that'd be awesome.

Went with the youngest to an open practice with the Third Rail two summers ago. Chanot left practice early and came running over to the fans to sign autographs and take photos. He was engaged and terrific. The next day, the news broke that he was leaving the Club.

Still wish he could have played out the rest of his career with NYCFC. In hindsight, with the emergence of Haak as a CB we likely could have skipped the entire Risa era altogether and bridged straight from Chanot to Haak had he stuck around.
