Yep. I was sitting next to him when he signed it. I also scored high on reading between the lines and basic logic.Wow. Didn't realize you saw his contract. Why have you been holding out on us?

No one is disputing his contract is through MLS, but his contract was to play for only NYCFC. You can bet that Lampard, Pirlo, and Villa also have contracts that stipulate they play for NYCFC, also known as no-trade clauses. Dos Santos most likely has he same deal with LA, he plays for them or no one (unless he agrees to it).Reading between the lines - is that a legal term that you speak of?
Because you're wrong in your "reading between the lines" analysis. Just like everyone else - from Chris Wingert to Sebastian Giovinco, Mix has a contract with MLS. I don't know if MLS has voided that contract or not, but his contract was with MLS.

Here is where we disagree. If that is the case, then MLS (the Krafts, Hunts, Anshultz, etc.) are opening themselves up to a massive lawsuit. The embodiment of Single Entity is that you have a contract with MLS. Whatever handshake agreements, winks, nods, whatever happen beyond that wouldn't stand up in a court of law.
Do you really think that cheap-ass Bob Kraft would open himself up to free agency and an uncapped league to accommodate Mix Freaking Diskerud?
As JGarrettLieb mentioned above, Single Entity will not survive another lawsuit now that DP's have been added. The league opened themselves up via those roster rules and growth. Do the players want to initiate another suit, who knows? Do the players have the threat in their back pocket come CBA negotiations, they'd be stupid not to.Here is where we disagree. That's the great unknown. As 413Blue mentioned, he does not believe Mix got a lump sum, and instead he's getting regular paychecks (probably from an escrow/pool paid into by NYCFC). I'd hope that since NYCFC is effectively paying his salary, that we'd still get any transfer fee - the "buyout" was a cap/roster mechanism and not an evasion of the monetary commitment. But who knows? Maybe as part of initiating the buy-out, the club gives up the right to the transfer in exchange for the Cap relief. It's about as transparent as the Hudson River after a 3 day rain storm.Don't know if this has been already asked but since he was "bought out" by NYCFC but MLS still retains his rights with the no-trade clause (so we're the only team he can sign for hypothetically in MLS), if MLS agrees to a transfer in August to another club for a fee, where would the money go? 100% to the league or would we get a part?

The article in the man without a club link is funny. It's like the league doesn't even know their own rules.http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/03/06/report-diskerud-close-loan-deal-mls-swedish-club
Mix Diskerud, a man without a club but still signed to MLS, could be closing in on a loan deal to Swedish side IFK Goteborg, according to published reports.
Sweden's Expressen was the first to report talks of a loan to Goteborg from MLS, which still holds the Norwegian-American midfielder's contract after he was bought out by New York City FC last week.
Because he was not put on waivers, as a result of a no-trade clause in his contract with NYCFC, Diskerud cannot be signed by another MLS club.
On Monday, ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle reported – citing an unnamed source within MLS – that the deal could be completed within two days and that the loan would run only through August.
