MLS - February 22 - LA Galaxy (Away)

i hope it looks good in person. i think im going to like the combo.

i swung by the adidas store on 5th avenue to check them out in person. it's a nice blue. I would say the navy is not as dark as that photo portrays. the one with maxi and the flag draped over his shoulder is probably more accurate. the patterns and holographic touches are nice in person.

Was supposed to fly out Sunday night. Then was supposed to flight out Monday midday. Now flying out Tuesday morning.

We better win.
My next door neighbors are stuck in Orlando. My wife's friend took her daughter to an admitted students' tour at Michigan yesterday and they can't get a flight back to NY until Tuesday, and instead of the usual 70-80 minute flight it's an 8 hour multi-city itinerary.

"I would have stayed if they would have given me an offer that I thought was very strong and something that there’s no way I could have said no to.” Outside of Godfather movies, an offer you cannot say no to is one that pays you more than you are worth.

“They did send offers, but nothing that ever when I looked at it was like, this is just too good. I have to take this offer. More like they were trying to do the bare minimum . . ." There's a huge space between "too good" and "bare minimum" that Haak is pretending not to exist.

Oh, the negotiations "took a toll." Boo hoo. You know who has to deal with the same stuff? Everyone. I hate when pro athletes play this "poor indecisive me I just want to be wanted" Hamlet shit. While NYCFC had exclusivity, he refused their offers because they were not "just too good." Once other teams could make offers, he refused to meet with Dunivant. That's a choice, and not one that says "I really wanted to stay." If he wanted to stay but had issues with Lee he would have taken the meeting with the new guy.

I'm glad NYCFC did not bid against itself. Haak, you made a decision about your career. Good for you. Own it. Be proud of it. Don't deflect.
Move on and look forward.

NYCFC did not owe you an offer that blew you away and you did not owe them a hometown discount or even a courtesy meeting with the new guy in charge. That's how it works and this is the result.
It's not personal Justin. It's strictly business.

I didn't read it that way. Haak said by the time Dunivant offered to fly out to meet him, "he had essentially decided what he was going to do."

So, more like too little, too late, at least from Justin's perspective.
