Great win. The pitch looked poor but with your recent weather I take it that its caused by the snow and ice?

Yeah the grass got no chance to see any sun until maybe a couple days before the game. Grass never looks good in March because of the weather. It had been like 20 degrees for weeks before the game with the blizzard only a couple weeks ago.

I've said on multiple occasions during these early season games...can they paint the grass?

Ian did say on the broadcast that he walked the field and the pitch despite looking bad the field was in excellent condition.

First of all, very cost-prohibitive. Second of all, probably kills the grass if you cover it with something like that. Third of all, I imagine paint would be slippery and you'd have players get covered in paint by the end of the game since I doubt paint would dry on the wet grass (and if it did dry it wouldn't look the way you want it to anyway).

The pitch, aside from the color, did look like it played well -- there weren't some of the crazy seams we've seen in previous years, it did look like it was in decent condition by Yankee Stadium standards.
