Do we see some more rotation for this one? Not sure if MacFarlane is ready but Otoole seems over due for a rest game.

I don't know if it's just kicking someone while he's down but a lot of MLS fans seem to despise Caleb Porter and I don't get it. He won MLS Cup with 2 teams and they denigrate his coaching, and claim all he did was ride Darlington Nagbe to success. They pass on vague accusations like "I heard all the low level employees at Portland/Columbus/New England say he's a jerk." I'm not aware of any specific alleged misdeeds, and there's just this enmity from fans where he coached, plus rivals, and those with no reason for grudges. Maybe I'm reacting to a small vocal set, but it's weird to me.

I don't get it either. For years Caleb Porter was consistently mentioned by fans of MLS teams in need of a coach as someone they would like to see their team hire. Now he's enemy number 1. Very odd.

no sands for this one due to suspension.

maxi still not ready to join the XI .

looks like it'll be a perea and parks midfield combo. should make things lively with gil to keep track of.

Thought we were the better team most of the night, thought the game was played at our pace. Frustrating most of the night, but awesome ball from Tayvon and a great header by Keaton for the 3 points.

New England is now 2-10-1; you really gotta want it to be that bad.

And on Friday, we play the next-worst team in MLS, San Jose, which is on 10 points. Gotta get another win there.

Feels really good to say this again: NYCFC is a good team.

We were so organized tonight. Whatever else can be said, and there's a lot, we're a team now.

The only area where we are still a bit unorganized is along the back line. CB pairings often take a good amount of time to develop and you can tell there is still room for growth in the Risa Martins pairing. If anything I'd say it's a reason for further optimism as we are getting results and we still have an avenue to get even better.

Nothing is ever perfect, that's for sure. But I must be honest, I loved the way we defended tonight. Very organized, very determined. When cracks appeared (as they will), we reacted and responded.

The most encouraging thing to me was the obvious learning curve we're on. The lads were not just watching a flickering screen on movie night. Guys are paying attention in the film room. They're getting it.

Are we being a little harsh on them? I know we give up some chances occasionally, but we've allowed only 16 goals this season. That's tied for 6th-fewest in the entire league. Obviously Freese has been outstanding, but our defense has been pretty good too.

As a team, we're now 5th in the Supporters' Shield standings.

So we've won 7 of our last 8. 5 of those 7 wins are against teams above the playoff line.

When we break for League's Cup on 7/20, we may almost have enough points (42ish) to qualify for playoffs ,even if we regress a bit.

What a difference two months can make...
