Nycfc Mobile App

I'll be reordering stickers soon and will be sure to send them out to every elite donor.
For the App it's something I've always wanted to do but to actually have the website be integrated into a fully functional app I think it will cost a lot. I'm talking getting phone notifications when you get them on the forum and the works.
For now you can always just add it to your home page for quick access.
I think this platform does an outstanding job on mobile browsing and at the moment spending the $$ to develop an app would be a waste.
I have been looking at possible ways to upgrade and at the moment I think the only thing we could use is a nice simplistic redesign.

I did some digging on this because I'd love an NYCFC Forums app (for push notifications mostly) and it looked like the XenForo developers might be working on a multi-forum app (I.e. Users would be able to sign in to multiple XenForo-based forums at once). Thread has been quiet since late last year though.

If any other developers are curious, I'd be down to work on it.

If there is an app I probably won't use it because it's primary feature would be to alert me anytime one of my posts was quoted or liked. All that would do would be to make me compulsively come here more than I do.

That's no reason not to make it though. Sounds cool for them who would want it.

That would just be something to let you utilise forum functionality though, no? It wouldn't actually be something to give you forum notifications like shoutbox alerts or match-related stuff and so on?

Hmm not sure if I know the XenForo ecology enough to answer accurately.

ugh, i get a bunch of notifications from ESPN FC and MLS apps, but I'm not sure if I noticed if any were coming from the NYCFC app . . . I guess I'll find out tonight.

yup, confirm. nycfc notifications weren't working on my iphone, iOS (9.3.1). MLS and ESPN / ESPN FC notifications working normally.

Same here. Turned them all on in the app and also checked to make sure they were on in the Settings app as well. No notifications from the NYCFC app but did get them from the MLS app.

If we are talking redesign can we toss out features for the wish list?
Mine would be an ignore button for a thread so it doesn't pop up in the New Posts list.
Of course I'd also be happy with the forum as is forever. So don't take wish list as criticism. Thanks as always.

My suggestion, if it is possible, would be to have the "New Posts" Link appear on the Alerts page on mobile.
Right now on my phone if I call up the site and see the red badge, I click to see the alerts. From there I want to hit New Posts, but I can't do that without first loading some intermediate page. This is even more annoying in my petty universe because I'm usually doing this on the subway, catching signal at assorted stations along the way and loading that intermediate page means I sometimes have to wait until the next stop to open new links.

I have a rough life. When I was born the mass market internet wasn't even a dream and wouldn't come into being for 3+ decades. Now I'm annoyed when the 5 ounce 6 inch device I carry in my pocket can't connect me to an online forum in between subway stops.
But still, someone should fix this.

Unfortunately anything that changes functionality would mean spending $$ on a developer to change it. It's not as simple as put this here. And move that there. It requires changing the coding and paying someone to do it if there isn't already a modification for it.
I'd suggest making sure you're always on 'remember login' and bookmark the 'New Posts' page so you always visit that page first and it will still have your alerts as well

And I'm not rejecting any ideas. Simply stating that doing anything that changes functionality or even moves a link from one location to another would require hiring someone to change the template.
It's something I'd really have to sit down and go over making sure it was beneficial to all members and getting a quote before going through with it.

Actually, I find that all it requires is that I go on the forum and type suggestions into this box thingy on the bottom of my screen. Takes me almost no effort whatsoever.
