Olympic Qualifying takes place at month's end.

The USA are drawn into a killer group with Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. The other group is Canada, Honduras, Haiti and El Salvador. The top two teams in each group advance to the semi-finals, and the winner of each semi-final advances to the Olympics in Tokyo.

The task for the USA is to finish at least 2nd in its group and then win the knockout game against a team from the opposite group. To place 2nd in the group, the USA will likely have to beat either Mexico or Costa Rica, which places a lot of pressure on the opening game against the Ticos.
