RB Postmatch

To be fair Twellman did also say he thought Ring could win best newcomer in MLS this year so he doesn't totally not rate him...

I was at RBA and pitchside pretty much on the 18 at the goal end where our supporters were. Maxi's goal (and Villa's pass) happened right in front of me, which was amazing. Overall I think I prefer being up higher and more central to get a better sense of the game, but there's a lot to be said for the visceral excitement of being at essentially pitch level.

Our away support was tremendous. Loud and fired up the whole time.

So, not too much to say about the match as a whole other than, as others have pointed out, we had a lot of bad giveaways and couldn't really string much attacking possession together. But I'll take the point.

Unbeaten by RBNJ in 2017! Not quite as satisfying as being able to hold up the brooms, but it feels good.

Several things.

1. I'm listening to old school rock with my old man on a concert quality speaker system singing nycfc songs. We are clearly drunk as skunks.

2. Good tie.

3. Bordeaux is always amazing.

4. Brilliant is a starter in any team that isn't NYCFC.

5. Dafuq ref, on both sides dafuq.

6. How the hell did we tie with our B+ team?

This forum has a hard time admitting we're one of the deepest teams in the league despite not having an academy running yet.

He's honestly worse than Lalas. At least Lalas can get over a bad call. When he mentioned the missed hand ball I was pissed more because I knew Twellman would start bitching for the rest of the game..

The SJ rant was even worse, about how he needs to be more consistent and can be a liability. Dude spilled one ball all season, not sure what Twellman's problem was.

Jack looked bad two straight games. Needs a rest and he probably won't get it next game.

Fred is love. Fred is life. If he scored that bicycle kick, I would currently be the owner of a Fred jersey.

Neither MLS website nor espn mentioned the Handball Villa should have earned the PK for nor do they have a highlight video of it. But everybody discusses the BWP no-call. Pretty one-sided.

Even the NY Post coverage harps on the RJ on BWP no call without mentioning the handball. Also most media outlets giving them props for their great bit of trolling on the Hartford thing which I still say they can only have made with absolute sense of non self awareness. You can't make that barb without acknowledging you never play in NY unless your away to us..

Two things and I think that's all I'll say.

Felipe is a dick. I asked how much his fine was and he said "Go fuck yourself. Shut the fuck up." I continued. How much was it? 3,000? 4,000? 5,000? 6,000? He wasn't very loud, but he continued to curse me out. Though more funny, he pulled one of the RB employees (and this is a woman who has nothing to do with security) and he tells her, this person has to watch his mouth, tell him to stop talking. LOL. I asked a genuine question. It was an undisclosed fine. I want transparency. LOL.

The refereeing was atrocious. Wallace getting a yellow for simulation? Absolute joke. And then no Red Bull players get yellow for dives. CALL IT BOTH WAYS. BWP PK shout, maybe. Kljestan's PK, eh. Handball in the box on the Villa header, 100%. None went to VAR. Absolute criminal.

I think we could have one. Also, Andrew Wiebe is an awesome dude.

I'm home disappointed at home, after a 90 minute trip back from New Jersey and had Shack Shake on the way back.

That is all I'll say.

I will say this for the Jersey Cows, the match day atmosphere is pretty good at the stadium, although the concession stands need to up their game - waited almost 20 minutes for a burger.

Great noise from the fans, and they must have seated us behind some family section or something, because the League of Concerned Mothers in front of us didn't like the swearing and the beer throwing....

No idea what was going on with that ref, second game in a row where people were throwing themselves down and he was calling the free kick. We have Villa and Herrera that can be cute and win free kicks, but other teams seem to have so many more. Couldn't believe Wallace's booking and was raging at him after someone threw himself down - right in front of the ref - and didn't get a booking.

Vieira is right though, we are a better team than last year and props to the solid defending all round, shape wise and last-gasp foot-in kind of stuff.

Ring MOTM - never have I seen a player so skillful at winning the ball back (and then doing something with it)!

Which, to be fair, Taylor Twellman just did.

Good news... we got another result, and we are now unbeaten in our last 7, with 14 points over that span.

Bad news... we got outplayed, and have now punched above our performance in at least 3 straight games.

Early in the year, when we had those bad results against Orlando (for example), I felt okay because I believed we have played well enough to win, but just lacked a bit of luck or a good finish.

Well, the opposite is true now. We are getting good results, but I don't think we are playing all that well. We aren't holding the ball or putting together enough good chances. We stole a point tonight and arguably stole 3 in the last game.

Let's hope we get people rested, healed and back from suspension and get back to playing the way we were a few weeks ago.

So, Rodney Wallace's ridiculous Yellow Card means he is suspended for our next game, which is Wed, September 6 against Sporting KC.

Wallace has also been called up for Costa Rica for their World Cup Qualifiers just before that. Wallace will likely be playing the night before the Sporting KC game, which means he wouldn't have been playing against Sporting KC anyway. MLS has a rule that says if your suspension occurs while you are away at national team duty, then you are suspended once you are back. I am not sure how that applies here, when he is back, but very likely to not play anyway.

We will see.
