They need to fix the visuals if they're if I'm going to read along a 30-minute video. Either black letters on a solid light background, or the reverse. White letters that simultaneously are imposed over chrome, off-white and black, with the bottom line of text itself split top and bottom against the table line, is ridiculously bad design. I have normal eyesight for a person my age, which means poorer perception of contrast than when I was 20. I made it 2 minutes. It was doable. I could have gone the distance. But it wasn't worth the effort. Any decent web/video/design professional should know this.
Word. I imagine secondary language acquisition capacity falls off at a similar rate when older. They should just dub it with Maxime Chanot's McBain-like voice for comedic value as well as comprehensibility.
It starts dropping after childhood as I understand. Still, I could learn Spanish, just like I could put in the effort to read the subtitles. I just choose not to. I studied 1 living and 2 dead languages when I was young. Very little of any of them remains in my brain, though I think I still retain ancillary benefits from the process.
Yeah one of my friends studied secondary language acquisition in children and apparently kids who have to learn more than one language have an easier time deconstructing sentences syntactically. IIRC this is a lifetime benefit. So maybe it wouldn't be that hard to learn Spanish for you.
All to be taken with a grain of salt. I never studied Spanish until maybe a year ago but I feel like in NYC there are many good reasons to learn.
I've been working on mandarin and its been a disaster.
What they need to do is bring the NYCFC logo further down on the wall so they don't have to commit to such a ridiculous frame in order to keep it in, put some neutral density gel on the windows so they don't blow out so badly, and then darken the bottom third of the frame with a gradient so the subtitles pop off the screen.
Among many other things.

Once the Ring trade happened, kind of felt like the writing was on the wall for Matarrita.
