Saad Abdul-Salaam [Defender]

Nice article in the Athletic today about Saad Abdul Salaam, who has risen to feature regularly for Seattle. It features his most infamous moment in Providence Park ahead of this weekend's Cascadia Cup match. I remember this moment well, although I hadn't realized that was SAS until now.

Was our Right back cover at one time and then we decided Tinny needed no cover and then only a HG..... [sigh].....

wow that was SAS???
...biggest mistake we made was not playing him to rest tinnerholm last season. He's very capable and would have been amazing this season, too.

I wish we had kept him around a little longer at least. In the end, we only got $50,000 TAM from Seattle for him. And remember, we traded away a Bundesliga level forward to get SAS in the first place.
Gator, you're a wonderful person.

However, Khiry is not a Bundesliga level forward. He's played for their second team and had an appearance off the bench in a cup match against a fourth division team. He apparently performed admirably enough for them to decide against loaning him out to another team. But let's hold off for now on labeling Khiry as a "Bundesliga level forward" until he gets some actual Bundesliga minutes.

I think there was sarcasm in that comment.

Oh yeah! About 80% I would think.

I always thought Khiry was better than many here thought, but I don’t think anyone outside of his dad saw him in the Bundesliga. And I am certainly not convinced he sticks for much longer, although I am rooting for him.

Kind of funny to look back on he and Larin as the top two picks, how the first two seasons went, and where they are now.

Where is Larin now, anyway?

Mid-table in the Belgian First Division. I'd guess MLS is a bit better than that.
