For some reason, I thought his loan was up at the end of 2021. Happy to see it’s till 2022 so we get at least one more year of action out of him. Something tell me as others on the forum had alluded to, he’s going to Break out next year. I think he may be the Jack Harrison of this team.

so based on this interview, it seems like the club is still trying to bring him back. sounds kinda like they are the ex who broke up but now wants to get back together. lol.

doesn't bode well for the idea that we have others to sign as a maxi replacement if we are still trying to woo santi back.

sounds like he was happy playing here and i was happy to have him.

i think nycfc always wanted him, its more him wanting DP money.

of course. but they should have had a plan B, don't you think? if they are still trying to get him back at this point, it doesn't seem like they have a plan B.

Why is this?

because they let him go and seem like they are trying to get him back. maybe this is just what happens all the time, I don't know. but if they were willing to continue negotiating with him (i.e., give him more money or whatever), why didn't they just get there before he left? instead he's gone and is missing preseason with the team.

it would be great if we could bring him back. but i personally feel like if they had a solid replacement lined up, they wouldn't be wasting there time here. again, maybe this is just what happens all the time and is par for the course. i really don't know. just not how I would be doing business if I were Lee.

I guess my point is included twice in your post here with "I don't know". By saying, "they have no plan B" assumes we do know what transfers the club has pursued and we do know that they haven't pursued any other 10's.

Additionally, there are reports of the club pursuing Sonora and I believe there is more to that than just rumors. Now I don't think he is the same quality as a Maxi or a Santi, but I guess there is a plan B there to a degree.

yea to a degree. but as you said, he's not on maxi (not that we'd expect this) or santi (would hope for something like this, but never know til they're on the field). and i did not say they definitely don't have a plan B, just that it seemed like it to me based on continuing to pursue santi. in any case, lemme rephrase and say it doesn't seem like they have a strong plan B.

depends how confident they felt in getting him. also with him gone they maybe felt in an ok position with pelligrini? or Sonora was someone they were targeting as back up. Carrizo? also it could be their plan B's declined or they could not get them,
