This was part of a competition to get university students to use analytics to construct a roster.
Noe that this isn't a roster of the best players, but one that fits inside league salary cap, 8 international slots, with 3DPs, etc. The winning team from Columbia also avoided players who get international callups, have injury problems or discipline issues when selecting the roster.

Former NYCFC Josh Williams also made it. Which is surprising because didn't they take injuries into consideration?

Supposedly. But was he injured or just not play much. I barely remember him.

If I remember correctly Josh Williams had a serious heart condition or something similar to that.

Since three of the students are from Columbia, I wonder if Sunil Gulati told Garbs to give them more GAM or something.
