I have finally gotten around to read HRB Brad Sims conversation. He mentioned people have reached out about hosting events and concerts at Etihad park. I was wondering of the people who looked at the premium seat contracts, is there any mention of first access to non NYCFC events or is the contract specific to NYCFC only. Assuming no NDA were required. I know for MetLife if artists don’t control ticket sales then the Giants and Jets can offer presale. Oasis and FIFA control their tickets so there are no presale for those events.

Interesting quote from Sims. Also makes sense why they want to switch to a winter schedule.

Sims said NYCFC has agreed not to host events simultaneously with the New York Mets to facilitate accessibility at both Etihad Park and Citi Field. If both teams make their respective post-season play-offs, which take place at roughly the same time, NYCFC may be required to come up with alternate arrangements for their home fixtures.

Sims, however, does not foresee any issues and says a similar agreement already exists in Seattle between MLB franchise the Mariners and MLS club the Sounders. He said there is plenty of flexibility to move potential play-off fixtures at Etihad Park so that they don’t coincide with a Mets home play-off. He is also confident that NYCFC will not have to seek an alternative home venue in those circumstances.

“We already talked to the MLS about it and they were like, ‘no problem, we already deal with this,'” Sims said.

More and more of these “from LGA” pictures keep popping up, so even though I’m sure many of you might already know, for those of you wondering-
Check any flight tracking app before flying to/from LGA. The only scenarios for getting a good view are departing runway 13 (blue arrow) or landing on 31 (orange arrow). The orange arrow shows the most commonly used approach path, but on extra windy days it could be a long straight-in line from Long Island. If departing from 13, you want to be on the right side of the plane, and if landing 31, the left.
And if you want to do some real airplane nerding out, you can check the runway configuration here, which shows the airport weather and runway configuration in pilot speak, updated every hour, looking for “approach in use 31” or “departing 13” like today.
As someone I know likes to say, “there’s always an aviation angle”.
