Stadium Discussion

I want an episode of when the Yankees' Levine killed the Bronx site. And of when de Blasio killed the Bronx site.

Good luck with that, let me know how it goes for you hahaha

Think the most we can hope for is some intel on how they got the stadium across the finish line politically, but I imagine most of the piece will be behind the scenes of construction.

I really want to know more about the proposal they had for the Islanders arena site. It seemed so odd. It wasn't really hyped by the club at all, it was against their ethos of "In the City" and it seemed like a very cookie cutter proposal.
Was it a serious proposal? Was it intended to be a Miami situation where it's basically a temp stadium while the real stadium is built? Was it simply to gain political or business clout and submit as a favor to make the bidding process seem more competitive?
It just seemed so unusual to me.

No, they just had to show face to put forth their effort to build a stadium. But it was never going to be the option.

MGM withdrew the Yonkers Raceway casino bid which many had considered a near lock.

Only 3 remain, Bally's at the former Trump golf course in the Bronx, Cohen in the Citi Field parking lots, and the Aqueduct Racino. If Cohen wins, we'll either have 2 in Queens or 2 even closer and barely separated by the Whitestone Bridge. There are no remaining bids outside the city.

There's speculation but so far no evidence that Trump has corrupted the process. He would get a payout from Bally's if their bid succeeds. The mayor of Yonkers wants an investigation. Regardless, and to my surprise, Cohen has managed to get very close to winning this competition simply by not dropping out and finding one pol in north Queens to champion his bid.

To be honest, I thought Cohen had the inside track (har har) all along. There's a certain logic to Yonkers or the Big A, but they already have their niche. Bally's Bronx is a golf course; it's not really a great fit.

Uncle Stevie has a big open parking lot. And a very, very large wallet.

(Ed. note: And I should say, the Manhattan bids never really had a chance.)

How are there already 10,000 deposits and I, a Founding Member, haven't been offered one?
I'm guessing current season ticket holders are considered to be deposited? So this would imply we currently have less than 10,000 season ticket holders?
Or it's not including current season ticket holders? So there's been 10,000 new, new deposits for the new stadium?

Very possible. In that scenario I would still expect them to promote the higher, combined number, especially since current members essentially have a senior deposit.

I believe Lion is correct. It is probably just new deposit and not STH. If the team had a deposit number of 10K and that number included STH, then this is going to be a ghost town of a stadium. It was a $10 deposit, and I can see a significant amount of former STH giving the team money to see what the new prices are.

Sorry, I have to do multiple posts, I am unable to past the entire spreadsheet. I do have a google doc for this.
