These 3 guys, as hard as it is to admit it, are really the guys who saved it. Well #1 was a awesome guy, #2 is kinda creepy but gets it done, big time and #3 is one of the most hater owners in MLS. Yeah! There are others but these guys are the ones that kept the lights on in the dark days of 2002.

It is definitely a step in the right direction but, what is needed in order to make this a top tier league, is to remove the salary cap.

I don't see MLS getting rid of the salary cap ever, too risky that it will end up causing the league to go under since it's highly unlikely that the league will ever be that flush with cash and the overall trend is in the opposite direction in the sports world.

The NFL has made a new television deal and will be making money hand over fist for the foreseeable future. The NBA is doing well too. I don't agree.

I did and your response does not make sense. The sports world is moving towards salary caps in some way, not away from them. Sure we may end up with a $150m cap some day, but I believe it will always be there in some way.

Which proves my point, here are two successful Leagues that making boatloads of cash and yet they have salary caps and other measures to keep player salaries down.
(Edited to add) Ok I see where the confusion is, when I said things are heading in the opposite direction in the sports world I meant away from free for all spending to salary caps

Salary cap will never be dropped. The people that run MLS want this to be most importantly, a North American league. Which is why we have things like the playoffs, drafts, caps,....etc. It's also why promotion/relegation will never happen.

And above else the cap really does do a good job to keep the league even. There will never be a Real Madrid/Manchester City type team that can just hoard all the best players.
