This would be great if there were a way to exclude Orlando supporters from attending. Unless, of course, MLS is looking to highlight supporters flipping the bird and grabbing the crotch.

Depending on the opponent they may move it to the Orange Bowl. I mean, if it’s a big European club opponent.
Orlando City Stadium may be MLS vs Liga MX All Stars.
The match will be played at Orlando City Stadium, not the Orange Bowl.
So the All Star Game capacity goes from 70K+ to 25K YoY.
GoodNo NYCFC player is in the top 10 of their respective positional category
It looks like we might have dodged a bullet and none of our squad will be drafted for this dumbass exhibition.
I'm going to get all contrarian on the perennial widespread expressions of relief after we confirm we have few or no all star representatives.
In 2017 Toronto had 3 starters and we had 1. Toronto went 8-2-2 after the game and won both Supporters Shield and MLS Cup. We went 5-2-5 and lost to Toronto in the playoffs.
Last year Atlanta had 4 ASG starters and the Red Bulls had 3. NYCFC had 1. Atlanta went 7-3-1 and won MLS Cup. Red Bulls went 9-1-3 and won Supporters Shield. NYC went 3-5-4, limped into the playoffs, and lost to Atlanta.
I'm not claiming cause and effect except in the indirect way that having multiple players deemed worthy of starting the ASG probably means your team is doing very well and it is no surprise it would continue to do well. But the extra game is also pretty clearly not a hindrance. Sure, there's risk of injury. But we have had many players miss games due to knocks received in training. I'm not extra afraid of the ASG.
I guess I'm saying I would not mind having 3-4 players the rest of the league looks at and says "he's top 11." Nor would I mind having an engaged fan base that overwhelms MLS voting servers. I think it would be fun, and I don't think it really has much negative effect.

Lol did you really mean fans?NYCFC fans don't want star players or representation in the ASG. They want to win just enough games to not have to overhaul everything. Plus we wouldn't want anyone to get hurt for our mediocre playoff performances.

Lol that would be an interesting reading of most of what I've read.As opposed to "supporters"? Yes, that was on purpose.

Saying that they would rather not have the current set of players in ASGs is one thing. Reading that they would turn down star players and choose a path of mediocrity in order to avoid losing players to ASGs is a leap.
Maybe we're just reading different things.
I'd rather have an engaged fan base for sure. Agnostic on the fan votes tbh.I'm saying I think mgarbowski isn't off track here. We can have names, popular players, play the ASG and still succeed.
But! The point is more towards the engagement comment he had. Thats why I said fans, not supporters.
