Thing is those are always subject to change. I think both the new yankee stadium and citi field were supposed to have retractable roofs but ended up changing plans half way.

So if anything is revealed don’t get attached to it 100%
I'm just hoping for something Old School. Steep stands, an overhang to trap the crowd noise. A real lion's den. Something like Goodison Park or the old Highbury or El Madrigal.

Any way around it, that was an awfully definitive statement from Richards. No qualifiers like "hopefully." I'm trying to not get too excited, but I'm getting pretty excited.

Jist not the City of Manchester Stadoum. Lipstick on a pig

Didn't he initially say 15th of November? I remember him saying "the lull between MLS Cup and the world cup starting.. maybe the 15th?
I thought I saw that too, but I can't remember when.

By the way, I just caught SoupInNYC SoupInNYC 's post of the Richards clip earlier in the thread. Again, apologies. I've been busy the last couple days migrating off Twitter and Facebook onto the fediverse and I'm just catching up to things now.

Speaking of Facebook, I just dropped in for a minute and the NYCFC Supporters Group has one post on this -- a Spanish-language outlet with a rehashed story similar to HRB's. Virtually no likes or comments and no one else has posted about it.

That joint was hotter than coals with people screaming "Cushing out" and freaking about the roster during the season. And now, with maybe the biggest (and most positive) news we've all been waiting for imminent, and after a highly successful season no less, crickets. I guess some people are only happy when there's something to complain about.

Just so toxic.

Any idea why, Soups? Is it just to get ahead of all the World Cup coverage, maybe?
It’s exciting timing. World Cup coverage is about to start and get a lot of non season ticket holders at the very least temporarily interested in soccer and while they’re watching, they can say, look, we’re planning on building a brand spanking new stadium in the city for one of the best teams in the league.

I mean, it's great timing. Can't be better. The country will be like "what's this soccer stuff, again?" and a search will yield "a stadium is being built for NY's team, to be ready by 2026 world cup!" can't be better. And then if it's indeed ready by the US world cup, it's gonna be even better long-term.

Either that, or the search will yield this stadium thread and computers will be thrown from windows

You'd think something would have to come out prior to the announcement. If they're going to do something with CFG / NYCFC officials and state / local leaders, I would also expect the club would want supporters there.

We're on page 1055 (at the time of this being posted).
if you convert that to a date, you get 10/55. But september has 30 days, so that really means 11/25. This thread is not far off from the supposed announcement date, i have decided.

no, that's not a stretch, dw.
